Smallfry asked if there’s been any discussion as to trout camp. Sure had a good time last year meeting people, fishing, and sitting around the fire. Was it ever cold last year! I’m talking cold cold. I had to double up two sleeping bags. Am I sick for enjoying stuff like that or what? Anyway, I’m down to do it again this winter. Let’s start talking about it. I also think the right way to eat was to fire up a couple of grills and everybody just cook what you bring. Disorganized is best. And maybe Gui will bring some of that killer cheese. And who was that grilled the shrooms and onions? Danimal and Smallfry? Mm, mm, I’m gettin hongry.

I think smallfry grilled the fresh shrooms. I just threw some canned shrooms and dried onion flakes in a pan with some butter, red wine, and a splash of Worcestershire sauce ala "Outback" style. LOL. Might bring a buddy who's just recently getting into fly fishing this year. Hoping for somewhat warmer weather!

You call that cold cold? Ha!! Just a little frosty is all. The sunny days were nice though.
Are we thinking of going back to the same place or somewhere else? The LMFR is nice because it’s probably the most central to where everyone comes from but I’m game for somewhere else as well.

I think we need to keep it at LMFR. Despite all the bad attitudes that have been verbalized recently, this is a pretty special place and I’d like to keep it that way. Annual LMFR Trout Camp with the folks who frequent BBFS message board just seems right. Besides, after hanging out with all you great people last year, the fishing is just an added bonus.

Darrell, you gotta admit, that was cold. Took me an hour to thaw out my wading boots.

Probably an obvious answer to some, but what exactly is Trout Camp?

Last December, a bunch of the people that post on this message board got together one weekend and camped, fly-fished, smoked cigars, ate good food, drank a drink, and sat around a fire. It was a swell time. You should come. It’s fun to meet the people you frequently have discussions with here.

Darrell, you gotta admit, that was cold. Took me an hour to thaw out my wading boots. Good point about the frozen wading boots. That was a problem. Iced-up rod guides as well. I totally agree with keeping it at Beavers Bend. In December we pretty much have the place to ourselves.

I think it’s pretty open, Turfdawg. What’s your thought? Does not matter to me. I would think anytime after they pull the log stops.

Early December...… logs will USUALLY come out about Thanksgiving week.
I don't know what you all were saying about the cold.... David's cabin was very comfortable. And he has upgraded for this year!
Bill - I will probably try and join the low-renters this year. I have a new tent and equipment after my Colorado fiasco.

I vote December 7-8-9. The sooner we pick a date, the more people can plan.

I'd be down. Might even make it more than one night this time if it's less freezing!

Last year I lined my car camping bag with my down backpacking bag. That kept me toasty, but thawing out my wading boots and wader feet was a chore. I had to go dip them in river water just to thaw them out.
