Just wondering what some general opinions might be regarding cold weather and fish activity. Is a low of 23 and a high of 46 decent?
Should I wait until the temp is above freezing before giving it a go?

If you can stand the temperature and keep the ice off your guides go fishing. Just remember not to keep the fish out of the water very long because it’s very hard on their gills. Below freezing air temperature it’s better to leave them in the water

Exactly what Bill said. Water temps will be upper 40's to low 50's no matter the cold air temps. YOu may have to fight the ice in the guides anything below about 30 degrees, but other than that, go fish. I'll be there this weekend.

We got there Sunday, the 20th... Monday, when my hands were so cold it took 5 to 10 minutes to tie a knot, it was too cold for MY old arse to be out fishing, but I soldiered on. We had a nice week, but froze every day, even bundled up pretty much. Cold or not, my time with either or both of my sons is worth it.
