That soon, huh? Dang! I never got to the Swim Beach Riffle this winter. I hit it a couple of times. The fish just didn't seem to be there like in the past. Kinda surprised me. Two years ago those riffles were loaded with some really large fish.

Danny- I remember that riffle two years ago- I had some big rainbows come out to play. I had a big ole red stripe on that I LDR a few months ago in that riffle. All I saw was the stripe and shoulders.

All I saw was the stripe and shoulders. Sounds like the same fish that humbled me in that spot. Took off downstream, and with the slick footing in that area there was no way I could give chase. Almost got into my backing then broke my tippet.

Mystery Fly winner nabbed 2 16"+ out of there Saturday. I lost one. There seemed to be about 30-40 fish up there from the slow water by the tree to the bottom of the run before it got flat again. The way they have the logs setup at swim bridge creates a different water formation than in past years.

Did you say "yaks"? Coming up in April is an annual kayak fishing tournament up on Lake Broken Bow. ianglertournament.com/2019-beavers-bend-kayak-classicIt's for a great cause but why do I suspect there'll be "mission creep" where some of these yaks later find themselves carousing down the Spillway or in Evening Hole? Naw, they wouldn't do that now would they?

Park ranger said they let some pros on spillway creek and they determined it was not safe. Now anyone caught on spillway creek in a kayak will be dealt with.

Fishing kayaks are much different in design and purpose than slalom/competition kayaks so maybe they won't show up in the spillway. Maybe.

Will save some folks from drowning for sure ie The people that see the creek and think that would be fun to go down, head to Walmart and buy a cheap kayak and put the kid in and push it off
