Not sure if this is general or should be in Tactics. Just watched an advertisement on YouTube for a rapala style lure with cold hole and bluffs as the location!! I'm happy to see LMFR and Beavers Bend used as a backdrop for an ad, and also saddened at the same time. This was filmed sometime this past winter. Lure caster, Ethan Butler. I can’t say crap because that used to be one of my favorite lures at the old Cold Hole and tainter gates

I have nothing against spin-casters or anyone who follows the rules. Heck! I'm an old bait fisherman, myself. I wouldn't mind seeing treble hooks banned in the Red Zones.

A perfect reason why this needs to be a blue zone - let em have barbs, 5 gallon buckets, and double trebles. We can film a fly fishing ad in mid-spillway creek.

Ugh, what a video horrorshow. I Googled that Rebel TD47 Ghost Minnow and went to the Rebel website for it and on the Rebel site is another video of two spin fishermen rippin rainbow lips on our pre-flood(s) LMF with this thing: www.youtube.com/embed/vm5R-gM9OKo?autoplay=1&rel=0For those who discovered the LMF after the flood what you're seeing in the opening of that video is an upstream view of the former Evening Hole as it once was, another scene along the Bluffs, further up on the former Spillway creek and perhaps along the stretch by the Hickory campground. Doesn't help that my home PC's changing background images feature my old photos of the pre-flood river. *sigh*

I last purchased lures back when I was a boy which was about the time of the last ice age. I still have them though. I am stunned by today's prices for lures when I look at the big box store catalogs that come in my mail. All that money left on submerged rocks, submerged logs, up in trees and other snags. No wonder those competitive bass fisherman have sponsors. Makes fly fishing seem downright cheap.

Yep. When Moses and I were talking about getting into fly fishing, I said to Moses, "Wow! Fly reels are expensive!"
I was used to buying Zebco 33 combos. Fishing in the Nile for perch, that's all we needed.
He would cast a plague of locusts if he could see the price of fishing tackle today!
