I am looking at buying a Cortland competition series 10’5 3wt rod for Euro Nymphing and was wondering if anyone has fished one? I’m also trying to decide on a reel for it any recommendations would be appreciated.

I fish one just about every week, and I really like mine – great balance, action, lightweight, turns over tungsten flies, etc. It also throws dries, indicator rigs, and streamers really well.
I've paired mine up with a 5/6 Redington Behemoth reel and it balances perfectly, though, I did request extra backing to be loaded on that reel to give it a little more weight.

I have the MK1 from Cortland, almost the same as the new MKII. I paired it with an Orvis BAttenkill III 3/4 wt reel and cortland trout finesse line and backing. Balance is good and this rod will fish anything like Aaron said - dries, indicators, dry dropper, euro, and small streamers. The only place it isn't good is in tight quarters in the mountains. Not firm enough to roll cast and too long to cast.
