Thought we’d have some fun with this one. Title should say it all, but tell us what’s on your list this year. Here’s mine:
-new pair of quick dry pants for summertime wet wades (my current pair don’t say Simms on them)
-roll up floor mat to change in and out of waders stream side (have ruined a couple pairs not having this)
-Sage ESN euronynphing rod (I probably won’t get this for Christmas, but I’ve fished with Aaron’s and I really like it)
-a weekday trip to broken bow before the end of the year
-bourbon, lots of bourbon

New waders and boots. Wondering how long my current ones will last....I've got the Orvis Ultralights. Surprisingly, they have held up quite well. They are very comfortable and easy to move around in given the lightweight.
I also would like to receive an bottle or two of allocated bourbon.

I’m crossing my fingers for some Peak midge vise jaws.

I’m crossing my fingers for some Peak midge vise jaws. I’ve never heard of these before just looked them up. Are they just jaws that are meant to clampdown tighter for smaller bugs? How hard are they to swap in and out? My standard issue peak jaws seem to work fine for anything down to a size 18 or so.

The short version would be: Weller Full Proof, 12, or Antique 101 Blantons Gold(they sell in the states now) Elijah Craig Toasted or Barrell Proof Stagg JR Anything like Pappy’s, George T Stagg is impossible to get at my pay grade..

Nice. I was lucky enough to score a weller full proof earlier this year from a shop by my office. It’s really good. The antique 107 is really good too. It comes around enough that I usually have a bottle or two on hand. Always try to get a bottle of the stagg jr when it releases. I’m not sure where you’re at, but if you’re ever up in Oklahoma City, Elijah Craig barrel proof is everywhere up here, in fact I think the B batch is still on some shelves. Oklahoma doesn’t get Pappy and I missed George T Stagg. The shop by my office got one bottle this year and it didn’t go to me lol.

Oh and I heard that Elijah Craig toasted barrel is going to be a regular release (not allocated). Had a couple buddies that picked up bottles earlier this year. If you can’t find it, Old Forester 1910 and Woodford double oaked are pretty simply.

I guess the only things on my list would be a new back-up euro stick, and maybe a new pack, but am still undecided which pack I even want... and maybe some of that Hanak 5.5x fluoro since I'm on my last 150m spool, and they quit selling it in the states.

How hard are they to swap in and out? My standard issue peak jaws seem to work fine for anything down to a size 18 or so. They just have more clearance for you to access the hook. Hankinsfly has a set and he loves them. I’m not sure how often he swaps them if ever. I don’t think they are too hard to change but not something you’d want to try and do all the time. For that, I’d want the Stonfo Transformer (I still want that vise). IIRC, the midge jaws are meant for 18 and smaller. I’ve tied down to 28 on the standard jaws but they make it a little harder to access the back part of the shank. I’d say the average size of fly I tie is probably a 20. But I tie 22 and 24 often.

I cannot recommend highly enough the current model of the Simms G3 Guide boots. I’ve had 3 “generations” of their boots and the current one is certainly the best. They just keep getting better. The price is worth it!

Last family trip in the car the rods somehow moved around and a (barbless) dropper ended up dandling over the baby in the car seat. Mama wasn't very happy. So I think a roof rod carrier is going to be our Christmas fishing present. Now that I've got used to carry fully rigged rods, it's hard to go back to having to break them down and set them up every time. These carriers are not cheap though.

I’ve got way too much stuff already, new Yakima rod vault and Korkers Devil Canyons, but I would like some cam jaws for Renzeti vise. I’ve just got the old thumb screw ones

I have some relationships with stores in North Dallas, but not important enough for a Pappy or Stagg. Too many bourbon snobs in Dallas. I try to swing by the liquor stores in small towns I camp in....gotten lucky a few times. Several stores in Gainesville, TX treated me right a few months ago. Picked up a case of EH Taylor Small batch and some Eagle Rare at MSRP. Small ETX towns have been good hunting spots as well. Good news on the EC Toasted and Barrell Proof. I will definitely take a look when in OKC.
Uh oh.....now folks are going to ask us for our Bourbon honey holes.....lol The list is long...lol. Dain - ive got two weller’s 12 year old singles i think. As you know, i dont drink bourbon. Shall i bring those next time? Are they good? Gui - sumo rod holders are a step up from inside carry. I love my suction ones and they work well in snything but freezing weather. Xmas already happened for me: new simms freestone z waders, simms wading belt to replace the one i lost in missouri somewhere, new 2.5x readers, a few corqs indicators, a small humidor for my smokes, and new patagonia fleece pants. Santa (girlfriend) did really well. Im still hoping for new boots from the fly shop this weekend Merry Xmas.

How is that Hanak tippet? I thought about trying it sometime. I’ve always been a Rio fan...but have also used Trouthunter and some SA fluoro (large 5X guide spoon still going strong I think). I was told that the Cortland Comp stuff was amazing but it is pretty expensive—have not tried it.

The Hanak 5.5x is really good, IMO. It's a great balance of narrow diameter, doesn't damage as much, and good breaking strength. They quit selling the large 150m spools, which I'm still pretty up in my feelings about. I get a deal on the Cortland stuff, so I'll probably switch to using their top-secret fluoro 100m spools from here on out.
I've been testing out Seagar Invizx Fluorocarbon in about a 4lb/.007 (4.5x) diameter, 200m for like $16. It's OK and works really well on faster water, slightly off-color water, and streamers. Not as good as name brand stuff for super clear, slow water, small flies.

Best thing I have found for standing on to put my waders on... Plain old rubber-backed bath mat. Pick one up at Ross for about 3 bucks! JR
