I think the only way for something like that would be a bobber stop and bead as used on a slip cork, but I think that would affect the way the fly rides and I wouldn't want the dry to risk slipping back up the leader when fighting a fish.

Maybe for a bobber-stopper effect you put the dry-fly on as you would a thingamabobber with the tippet loop that goes through the eye then around the body. Now that will slide, I imagine, which is what you don't want. So. I have these little rubber bands made for dental braces I think. Somehow you feed the rubber band into the eye as you pull tight the loop, thus jambing it so the fly won't slide up and down if you happen to have a fish take your dry-bobber. I'll have to experiment with that. It has to be so that you can also undo it fairly easily, like you can most bobbers, so you can adjust it. The adjustment bit is what I'm looking for. If I could get that working I'd stop using "indicators" altogether. It might involve me bringing my "poker-thingy" with me (You know, that little mini-icepick thing we use while tying. I can never remember its name.)

Oh and if it's like a big hopper you could maybe get away with intruder wire

Troutbum54 has the answer. I used to tie a small version of the Llano Bug with a loop of mono off the tail. Tie the dropper fly to the loop. I used it for warm water pond and river fishing. The foam fly serves well as an indicator and attracter.

The hatch has definitely begun. I had a moment yesterday afternoon where I literally had a bite every other cast. Caught 8-9 in the span of about 45 minutes and all were good size.

I may have to reappear with "Hotel Jacques" in the next few days... However it will be at least 3 days after I mention it. That's how long it will take for the swelling around my eyes to go down. She has the hardest, boniest little fists in the State of Texas...
