This will be our fourth year to lmfr. And this year with a fly rod. I usually go south of the road where I believe it is called the evening home... Just south of the bridge.. But I'm not sure. Last year I saw people using rod and reels.. And I thought that was illegal.
I like to fish for fun. But considering there is a chance I catch one this trip, my wife wants to eat it! It's this frowned upon? Or does everyone catch and release? I don't want to be the visitor that gets frowned on.
Also any pointers on where to go? I usually use green or black wooly buggers.. They don't seem to get deep enough to entice those trouts.
Sorry for the hard to read layout, I'm on my phone. Thanks!

There's about 4 bridges including the washed out one, so... The Evening Hole Bridge is the first one downstream of the washed out one, the first one upstream from the Fly Shop. When you're at that bridge, the Evening Hole is the wadeable water upstream. That wadeable water downstream a lot of us call it Hickory because Hickory Campgroud is on the left bank. Hickory is what's called "Blue Zone". You can fish with more or less any kind of bait and keep several fish. (Look up the regulations.) The Evening Hole is Red Zone. This extends up to the washed out bridge. You can only fish artificial baits with the barbs pushed down and pretty much can't keep fish (Look up the regs.) I hope this helps.

The thing is that in the red zone one should only use artificial and barbless. Is keeping a fish frowned upon? LMAO, with all of the poaching and meat harvesting going (even out of the red zones) on I wouldn't worry about a thing. You'll fit right in! Seriously though, only keep fish from the blue zones please.

Good choice on going with the fly rod. If you are between the washed out bridge and the next bridge, put em back. If you go below the Evening Hole bridge, that's a blue zone and you can keep 6 rainbows. Rod and reel is legal, just no bait or barbed hooks in Red Zones (C&R basically). I have a map somewhere.... I need to find it.

beavers bend diagram.pdf (378.05 KB)
This is rough, but a good starter kit for where to fish, what zones, and where 'areas' are.
