Does anyone fish with a spinning rod and reel? If so, what type of baits work?

Before I started fly fishing I was using shorter ultra light rods with small spoons that had barbless single hooks. I'm not entirely fond of treble hooks after a bass incident with my brother so even before I started fly fishing I was smashing barbs out of habit.

Whatever baits you can work the slowest in the current edges will catch fish, I prefer Panther Martins over Rooster tails as the blade design permits you to hold it in the current and wait for a strike. Try doing that with Rooster tails and it will sink to the bottom. I also like Super Dupers when thy don't want Flashy. On everything I mash or file off the barbs and break off hooks. I've found the no bigger than 1/4 and most of the time 1/8 - although it depends on the current flow, there are a lot of pockets of holes along mid to upper SWC that few people reach from either side of bank.
