I've only fished Zone II a couple of times, both ended after a few casts by my bad timing and the sound of sirens. Earlier this year I purchased a cabin a couple of miles NE of the river as the drone flies. Has anyone ever fished Zone II from the east side? Also wondering how Carnasaw Creek and Slate Branch might fish.

No idea, bro. Some of us talked about the possibility of fishing or hiking up in that way some time back. It didn't seem like anyone had any experience at all with it. Looks like you're the pioneer!

I'd like to get to Zone II more and explore more river via canoe. Too many people in all the upstream spots.

You schedule some time with a Beavers Bend Fly Shop guide and if they like you they might show you where the lesser known spots of the LMF are...but then you'd be sworn to secrecy lest something happen to you. Hmm, come to think of it I suppose they won't show anyone...ever. If you ever do wander around and locate those secret spots on your own and have a smashing good time I suppose YOU won't mention them to anyone either.

ZII is quirky. Earlier in the Summer wasn't fishing well at all. Not sure about now. I know the temps down there in the summer do struggle.

Follow up question: What about the stretch from the EH around to the fly shop? I imagine in the colder months the canoe trips aren't running. I have fished below the EH for about 200 yds with zero activ or sightings. Just wondering if walking it around from fly shop up to EH would be any fun...... Can we wade it? Do any fish hold up there.....it's awfully slow water compared to the other parts where food may be more plentiful. I just don't know.

Interested to hear others experience here as well. I plan on fishing this, from the campgrounds down past fly shop and around to swim beach via wade/canoe this winter during Trout Camp.

After they pull the log stops out you can wade all the way from the fly shop past swim bridge. Evening hole bridge to the day use area can be waded but I'm not sure if you can wade all the way to the fly shop.

There are 2 excellent shoal-like spots that open up after the stop logs are pulled (after Thanksgiving? Something.). One is at the swim-beach. You can see it upstream when you're at the SB bridge. The other is up between the Fly Shop and EH. You take the loop that serves Fern, Hickory, etc. In the middle of that loop is a steel gate that's open. You turn down there. People refer to it as the Day Use Area. Nice fishing!

That's kinda what I thought. I've never seen anyone on the other side in Zone II. Looks like it might be tough to navigate, for me anyway. I'm sure Evan could zip right across and catch 3 fish in the process. I fished Carnasaw Creek quite a bit as a kid back in the early 70's. Don't remember what they were, but I remember catching fish.
I'd also like to try Zone 3 in the kayak (I've got 2 if anyone else wants to give it a go) but that will probably have to wait until the crowds are gone. Crossed the river on highway 70 Saturday afternoon and saw at least 100+ kayaks.

I seem to recall Tyler talking about the creeks over on the opposite side of Zone II. I think he said he hiked in, but I'm not sure of the route. Maybe he will be checking back in with us.
