They stocked last night. Headed there now and crossing my fingers for a good day and quality fish.
I have to fly tonight so I won’t be there all day.

Where is Medicine Park? How did you find out they stocked?
Looking at the latest fishing report I’m only seeing Robber’s Cave, the Blue River, and the LMFR being stocked this week.

Medicine Park is just northwest of Lawton, bordering Ft Sill's property.
I think I saw a post on the Wildlife Department's facebook page or something.
Fished for about 3.5 hrs. I started out near the big rock, near the stocking tube...drifting midges under an indicator. It was slow, no bites. I moved closer to the waterfalls across from the bait guys and changed techniques...to one I've started to call Chironobombing. Long leader, a couple of split shot and two midge patterns tied in tandem. I used two of the softhackles you tied for me (they were still tied together from CO trip) and cast close. Let it all sink, then slow strips and/or lift the rod tip. Landed 4 out of 6 and fish took either of the flies. Most were on the rod lift. The fish were pretty nice and the fights were good--only took one photo.

Likely to fish MP tomorrow. Bringing family, they want to keep a few trout. Probably they'll have a jar of power bait. Don't hate. I will be "chironobombing." Will not fish egg patterns. Yes, I have lofty morals.

If you had “lofty morals” you’d wait for a hatch a toss a size 18 parachute Adams and not nymph like those people without morals 😂😂

Lots of morals at LMF right now too - fishing to spawning beds and paired up fish. Hankinsfly, I know you will bring your leftover powerbait to trout camp......

Can’t that section of the LMF be closed during spawning? That seems too important to let it get mucked up by unknowing or uncaring anglers.

Remember this is the same section that they ripped the "Entry to River by Anglers Only" sign down and threw it into the woods and the park rangers let people swim and tube down. It would also hurt the guides.

JP caught all the trout, think he released 3 or 4. I caught a sand bass, a drum, a perch, and a bass..... no trout. Left the family at home. They went to eat a steak. I am getting a burger and going back. Yeah but golferjeff, I ain't gonna fish with the power bait, I'm gonna put it in the chili at trout camp. Power chili.

2... plus that one sunfish. Slow all day, for all anglers. Either the fish never really got active, have spread out more, or the majority of them have been caught and kept.
I enjoyed launching the Commando head some, too bad no fish hit the streamers.

So, as a guy who is only this winter able to get out and do some OK trout fishing MP is the closest to me and the one I can do in a day trip. Otherwise most others are overnighters. I spent a few days on White River this fall and from what I've seen the stocked trout in OK are the same color as those in AR. I have really gotten to enjoy fly fishing again in retirement but had a couple of bad years without any fishing time and really need to get a trout or two on flies this winter. I also would pass on Power Bait but definitely not above fishing yarn eggs or blob flies. Prefer to find them on Zebra midges or soft hackle.
Of importance to me is my inability to do long walking or wading. Is access reasonably easy on MP and is there even any wading? I have a handicap sticker if that helps for access but would rather not park and fish in the middle of a row of bait fishermen. Looking at area on satellite view it seems like the pool and water right below the dam would be prime but also hit very hard. Anyone else planning any mid week trips there and is that a better chance to find a little room to fish than the average weekend?

MP is easily accessible. You can do all of your fishing without wading--I never wade there. In fact, I think there are signs that say no wading in certain spots (like the main "swim pool" where the little bridge and concrete platform is). I'm not 100% sure about spots up or downstream of the main area. I've seen someone wade further upstream before where it is shallower, but most of the water is quite deep and not wadable anyway. The fish will eventually spread out some, but the majority are in 3 areas--close to the spillover from the lake, the swim pool, and the last deep area next to the highway. I believe these are all of the stocking points. You may find some solitude in the areas between these points, but it may be hard to fish these areas with a fly rod (trees, steep banks) and chances are you just won't see any fish (that's my experience).
Even with bait fisherman in the main pool, you should have enough room. But watch out, they will crowd you sometimes. Best work on your roll cast too as you may not have any room to backcast.
Weekdays definitely best compared to weekends. I may try to get over there this Thurs, but I'm not sure yet. It for sure needs some more fish stocked (hopefully that will happen by Wed).

Have you not been there? it’s like a deep cesspool.

I have not. If I went that way I’m thinking I’d hit the Blue River on the way and not get there.

That’s what I’d do too. MP is about 1 hr for me vs 3 for the Blue. I can get a trout fix but not the whole “experience.”

I get my trout fix at the LIR which is 1:15 from me and has some decent wadable water. The BR is 3 hours and the LMFR is 3:30 so, unfortunately, I don’t get to those places very often.

Have you not been there? it’s like a deep cesspool. As a person anticipating actually catching a trout in OK I sure hate to read that. One of my friends bylines is "Trout don't live in ugly places". Are you saying that's not true?

Jeff, yep.. or move there (that's the plan eventually). Bassman, don't worry, you'll still have fun catching them. The LMFR is (still) a beautiful place, even post flood. The Blue River has its own unique beauty to it as well. They aren't Cheesman Canyon in CO or a Montana spring creek, but they'll do.

Yellowstone country and maybe southern CO/northern NM next year for me. With the usual spots thrown in. Probably never going to live outside of Oklahoma. True story.

Let's really try to get over to the Red River/Rio Grande confluence... or maybe the San Juan?
