Greetings,
So I am considering a quick trip to Texoma with my 5 or 8 weight. Probe the waters say below the spillway for stripped or hybred bass with a clouser or similar streamer pattern. Any thoughts or recommendations? Wrong time of year?

I've found Springtime is best for fishing North/East Texas spillways. Though, I don't get out to Texoma much.

Go with an 8! You might not catch much that fully require it but if you get into a big ole alligator gar or 8+lb striper you might be thankful for it!

Try white and chartreuse streamers hour before dark and hour past dark. Better use 2X or 3X leader and tippet

You could also do mornings and pretty much most of the day if it’s super cloudy! Also most people I know just run straight 20lb if using a sinking line or a heavy leader! I believe below texoma spillway is much like the ark in that there’s all kinds of jagged rocks

There will be a ton of buffalo around, and likely a bunch of long nose gar. There are probably still some stripers in the deeper holes, but it’s not nearly what it was right after the flood in ‘16.
The bottom is mostly very rocky and eats flies. There’s a sandy/muddy area on the OK side. Usually some gar porpoising over there. I haven’t been up in a couple months though. I used to catch stripers in a white/chart clouser, but after a few skunks in a row I kinda gave up.
Currently it looks like they’re running one generator from about 1-7pm. Sometimes the stripers turn on as the water is going up.

Thanks for the suggestions and tips! Timing did not quite work out for me so I was not able to make it to Texoma. But this is on my short list of places to fish so hopefully I'll get there this fall.
