I got one of these in the mail yesterday--should be trying it out tomorrow. I have the previous version (the Dragonfly), but this one looks substantially better.

They offered a pre-order, so I took it. The new one can rotate which is huge IMO and the bungee cord can secure the rod. The clips seem a little easier to manipulate too as the previous metal ones were a little stiff.
I have a Vedavoo rod holder but it doesn’t work that great. The rod winds up going all over the place

Ok, get one of these. It’s awesome. It even helps you catch big fish.....well not really but I did get a nice one today (see other thread).

Cool stuff! I ordered one. I wonder how these perform as second rod carriers. At least now I should be able to eat baguette while in the water.

Gui,
I didn't take a 2nd rod yesterday, but I think it will work quite well with the bungee cord to secure it and the ability to rotate it whatever direction you need. Being able to mount it to a backpack or sling pack could be handy too.

If y'all don't have one of these and see me on the river, I'll certainly hold your fly rod for $25 while you work the net.

I mean, if I net your fish, hold your fly rod, AND take one of them superman insta pics for you... yeah, better believe you owe me a steak dinner, maybe some of that Mt. Fork Brewery Sneaky Snake too.

I sure could use a good burger and a brew at Burgers 'N Blues right about now. Hey! I just thought of what I want to do at some point over the Labor Day holiday. An hour and 20 minute drive isn't too far is it? Naw!

Thanks for the heads up! After reading the reviews here and from what they show on the website, it looks like a great tool!! Painfully, there is only one shipping option so I won't have it here for this weekend

Another head's up... there are two screws on the back. One takes a Philips head that can be used to tighten the pivoting action of it. The other is an allen wrench style that can be used to select a specific hole if you wanted to lock the device into one angle. If you take the Philips one off completely and pull it apart, you'll see what I mean. I had an issue of mine not staying at the angle I wanted (Rod tip high) so I had to make some adjustments.

Great advice, mirvc17. I'm trying to find the "flat" buckle clip so I can mount it to the gopro suction cup (like the video show), but I can't seem to find the flat clip anywhere. Anyone have any ideas where I can pick them up? I emailed the guys, but haven't heard back yet. Btw, I like the holder so much that I bought 4 and have been handing them out to buddies. I'll update the board if I'm able to find the clip if no one has come up with any suggestions here.

Unlike you well disciplined minimalist pros I'm really bad at buying on-sale, discounted, closeout, lower price than retail fly fishing gear I don't truly absolutely positively have to have (But it's such a deal and it makes for excellent just-in-case backup!) and today I see the www.oprosgear.com website offers a discount when you buy two or more of these rod holders to which you guys have given the seal of approval...so I did. You'll notice the opros home page features a photo of a fisherman with his fly rod in the holder whilst crouched down cradling a nice brown for the photo op. That photo clearly depicts how the rod holder comes in handy to free up your hands when noodling for browns along the undercut of the stream bank so I'm gonna give noodling on the Letort a try real soon.

These are not gimmicks but rather an excellent idea built correctly. My friend and I each got one and it absolutely works as advertised. Frees up hands for retying, unhooking, photos etc. Also helped when I wanted hands free for wading staff. (I still think LMF is slippery even with felt). You will not be disappointed.

Received mine yesterday. Two thumbs up! A well made tool, not a flimsy gimmick at all. I imagine the guides already have these or something similar in order to free up their hands when assisting a client. Makes for a great stocking stuffer!
