I am pretty new to fly fishing. Only been a few times, but just went on a guided trip on Monday. I really want to start going more, and would like to get know some of you regulars. I know I have seen some post on here before about a Trout Camp. I think it was just a weekend that a few of you met up there and camped out and fished. Sounded like a great time. I am always down for some whiskey and a fire. Is this something that is going to happen again this year? Just didn’t know if this was something y’all did every year.

In one form or another, this gathering has been happening for years and years. A long time ago, when Sid owned the fly shop, it was called Sidfest. 🤓 Somewhere between 2006 and whatever year the first flood happened, it either died out or maybe I just lost touch. For one reason or another, I’ve never made it to one of the Trout Camps. Hopefully, I’ll be able to make it this year. From what I’ve read, it is a fun time. JR

The current run of Trout Camps is only 2 years. It’s been held on about the first weekend in December each year. The 2017 gathering was pretty frosty in the mornings (high teens) and last year was wet (as in soggy). Each year there was 20 or so that attended. A few of the recent ringleaders have moved on I think but the core group still remains. I’d definitely be up for it again. All someone needs to do is step up, propose a weekend, and see what interest there is.

I haven't seen a Hankinsfly post in a long time. I like the second weekend in December..... after Thanksgiving but before schools let out for Xmas. That date usually allows for the stop logs to come out as well.

I’m down for a third trout camp! Always great fun! Man, I can’t believe last time we fished the LMF was for the Mystery fly weekend... Long over due for a trip. December should be clear for me

I can make it probably any time in December (assuming I don’t get sick like I did last year...)

I would try to make it up for a December camp! One thing I would recommend, when we put one together, we need to create a new post with a title that shows the date of the camp. It was a nightmare trying to find which page had the actual date of it, last year.
Should we create a poll on here for 14 days to see which weekend in December works best? December 1st falls on the weekend post-Thanksgiving, so it is probably out. The following weekend, the 7th-8th would be away from crowds. The next one might be good, too?
