My fiancee recently took a job that lets her travel a fair amount, mainly to Arizona (Phoenix Area).
I was thinking about tagging along with her on one of these trips and taking the opportunity to chase some of the native subspecies (Gila Trout, Apache Trout) up in the mountains there. Does anyone know what the season looks like for that type of fishing? Summer? Winter? Spring/Fall?
I'll probably also go out looking for carp in some of their local parks/canals, which seems to be kind of a thing there.

Just a one time experience, but last year in May I was on a work trip in Phoenix and I had the chance to do a short one night backpacking and fishing trip to Chevelon Canyon. I camped one night by the lake and fished Chevelon Creek. The scenery was amazing and I also managed one nice wild brown in the creek. I posted a report somewhere in the Non-local waters section.
Water levels in the creek were low that time in May, but if you hike along the creek you can find nice deep pools. The creek might run dry at places or reduce to just a trickle in the hot months, but I believe these pools stay cool enough so that trout can survive the AZ summer. There are some big browns in the reservoir. I think it’s no secret that big browns are in the move at a certain time of the year...
I’m not sure that specific creek holds AZ native trout though.
