PSA for anyone thinking about fishing this weekend. Portions of the park will be closed this weekend for a controlled hunt. If it’s handled like past years, river and road access will not be allowed from Swim Beach Bridge to Cold Hole Bridge. Barricades are setup at the speed bumps by the mini golf course and at the road headed down to Cold Hole at the top of the dam. Again, past hunts have started at first light Friday and ended at noon on Sunday. The Upper Spillway should be accessible. It looks like 15 permits have been issued for an archery hunt. I heard last year only 2 people actually showed up. www.wildlifedepartment.com/sites/default/files/2019%20Deer%20Controlled%20Hunts.pdf

I showed up at noon Sunday last year and pretty much had it to myself (luckily they opened the park up on time). Caught a lot of fish too.

Just talked to Eddie. He just heard that they will be having the hunt in another part of the park. He’s heard nothing official but believes all of the river will be accessible.

There are NO barricades in the main park! Looks like the park hunt (archery) has been moved to Carson Creek and the muzzleloader hunt is on at Cedar Creek as there are barricades at both.
