I got to fish LMF from 7 am to 9 am Sunday morning. The weather was awesome! Arrived at 7 and went straight to the bluff area downstream of the bend below cold hole. Caught a small (maybe 14”) rainbow. He took a red zebra midge that I tied. Then I had an aggressive take that caught me off guard and snapped everything off. I barely got re-rigged and hung up and again snapped everything off. I had one other take in that area but didn’t get it all the way in. I did spot a decent size palomino trout in this area but he wouldn’t bite. I then went to the cold hole below the first falls. I had another aggressive take that again broke everything off. Gotta do something different here. I re-rigged and went to the join of lost creek. I got nothing there. By then it was 9 and I had to call it quits to take care of some stuff around the cabin, pack up, and head back to Conroe. Not much of a report….but here it is for what it is worth. On a side note – I spotted a really nice trout in the lost creek by the foot bridge with a spinner bait hanging out of his mouth. I tried to net him to remove it but had no luck.

sounds like a nice day... or as the ancient saying goes, "Any day on the river is better than a day at your desk procrastinating fluid dynamics homework due in 4 hours" or something like that.
make sure when you are fishing those zebra midges and other nymphs that you are getting down deep! Especially around the lost creek-main river intersection and the bluffs. try tying them with a tungsten bead or by adding a couple of split shot above the fly.
As for breaking everything off, sometimes you have to pay dues to the fish gods. Just be sure to moisten your knots and do a tug test on your flies and knots before casting out.

Make sure you're not using a bass fishermans hookset, try a quick lift of the rod, lighter tippet maybe just a lift upward
