Is it busy? Dead?
I was considering a trip to go fish, hoping that the craziness would provide a less than busy river. So, what are thw crowd levels like? Are the small area hotels staying open? Are the restaurants open so I can get food?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Was just up there yesterday. River is choked up with spring breakers. Fish arent biting, in fact i didnt see a single person catch a fish. Didn't look to see if resaurants were open. If you come up you may want to do so during the week.

Guess it depends on who you talk to. I went Tuesday and other than the bait fishing holes it wasn’t crowded and fishing was pretty good. Friends there the last couple of days and have caught several fish. One just posted and said today is not really crowded and fishing is good.

Maybe I'll wait another week and check back in. I was hoping to get away with a weekend trip, but it looks like that won't happen.
Aren't most of the schools on permanent spring break now? The park may get slammed non stop until this mess is over.
I just bought a new euro rod and I'm itching to use it in spillway and at the rock pile run.

The river has not been slammed near as bad as past Spring Breaks! Tons of fish in the river. ODWC has stocked probably close to 20,000 rainbow trout in the past month. Add in all the wild, holdover, and months old stockers, there are tons of fish and opportunities to catch them. The dry fly bite has been downright incredible most afternoons. Our guide trips have been VERY productive. Follow our Beavers Bend Fly Shop Instagram and Facebook page to see recent pictures and videos.

There are plenty of active fish in the Evening Hole. I can tell you that. Yesterday morning there was tons of fish movement -flashing, rising. I think they were on emergers. I didn't do especially well, had about 10 bites, 4-5 to net in about 3 hours fishing, one really nice fish. I had trouble finding the right emerger pattern. Early, when there was mostly midge activity, no love. A little later, a sulpher/ PMD pattern worked when I was seeing mayflies. Then there were caddis around. I couldn't seem to find the right pattern quickly, but it was time for me to go anyway. Another guy was out-fishing me by a little with nymphs and streamers, I think.

Stuck in Dallas with the stay at home order that's out for Dallas city and county. As well as Collin, Tarrant, Denton counties. Please keep posting as it's nice to see what's going on up there. Pictures too. Are restaurants open? Other businesses?

Well, I've had a little opportunity to fish, as chance would have it. The past couple of days I've worked some in the wee hours, but not the morning or early - mid afternoon. Today I made my second run to the river this week. The fish have been extremely active in the morning, feeding on emerging midges(?) -I don't know. There's midges all over, fish flashing all over and breaking the surface some, but I can't tell what the fish are eating, so frustratingly, my catching has been rather slow. Zebra-type midges, 18-24, haven't worked at all. Various soft-hackles have worked, like one bite an hour. I caught a couple on a Griffith's gnat with the zebra-midge or Yong's Special, or something, dropper being completely ignored. When I switched to nymphing, in the Upper EH and Rockpile area I caught a couple on a Pat's. There were quite a few folks out, kind of surprisingly, I guess, even guides working.
