Heading to the LMFR Monday for a three-night stay in our tear drop trailer at Cypress. I will fish my usual haunts (Bluffs, Evening Hole and Spillway Creek), but I'd like to try the Hickory area. Never been to this area and I'm wondering where to park and where I should access the river. Also wondering if the campground road is even open since tent camping is off limits for a few more days?

You can park at the Evening Hole Bridge on the opposite side of the river as you normally would to fish EH. Then, facing downstream, you can come down from the parking spaces and walk along the left side of the river. From there you can access Hickory Hole in many places along the way, starting right below the bridge, then the faster water a few hundred yards downstream of that, and beyond. Take note that a lot of bucket-sitters usually congregate along the right side of the river since you can literally back right up to the bank there. During normal times, another obstacle is all the kayaks that put into the river at that spot ... but these are not normal times.

The roads to the campgrounds are accessible. The kayak rental, at least last Saturday was open so they do drop off kayaks throughout the day. But if you hit these spots early enough in the morning, it shouldn't be a problem. And even mid-day was not too bad kayak wise. But this is a new week, so all that can change.
Good luck.
