Hey everyone. I am (Lonnie) a new member. I fly fished when I was younger and lived in SW Missouri. I Live in Texas and am coming to BB for a short visit and am going to give it a go at the LMFR. Never been there but I do have friend that go there for trips. Anyway looking forward to visiting the river and to fly fish again. I will probably suck, but it beats working.

Welcome Lonman! Good luck to you. Be sure to visit the Fly Shop to get the latest tips. Fish the next bridge up-stream from the Fly Shop. At that bridge the Evening Hole is the section up-stream. It's the main fly fishing part of the river. You can work your way up to the Bluffs (self-explanatory when you get there.)Or you can park in the big lot at the Bluffs and work down. Many options. Past there and the bridge right there is the long section of the river with a steeper gradient. It's known as Spillway Creek. It's good too. There's a parking area for it just past the bridge. You can go as far as you want on it.

Hello Lonnie - I too am new to this forum and am looking forward to my first, hopefully of many, trips to the LMFR, also driving up from north Texas. If you see an old guy wearing new waders and accoutrements and looking like he hasn’t cast a fly rod in 30 years - say hi that will be me but be kind about my struggles relearning to cast. :-) BTW as you will soon discover the folks on this forum are extremely generous with their advice and recommendations - Jonbo and many others always willing to HELP newbies with information. haha never meant “guide” in that sense Oscar

Guide? You said guide? You reminded me, if I hadn't said before, by far the best thing you can do if you want to learn how to fish the LMF is start by hiring a guide. They will move you up the learning curve very quickly. You'll know where to fish and how to fish there in a way that will take you weeks and weeks otherwise. And trust me, I'm NOT a guide, don't even play one on TV!
