fished Monday - Thursday morning basically at one location. Slower and deeper, got there at daylight and gone by 830. Caught 21 total including a 19 and a 20 incher. Beaded pheasant tail with white wings and orange/pumpkin tail. Finger over finger retrieve working cross current and downstream. Shadow casting was also very effective later when mosquito hawks came out buzzing the water. Great trip attachments.zip (1.39 MB)

Goes to show that presentation does matter, especially when the fish are stressed this time of year. By the way, none of this happened unless you have photos! LOL! J/K. JR

Shadow casting was very effective? What do you mean exactly? Did you create your own hatch?
Mosquito hawks....crane flies or dragonflies ?
Sorry I’m a little confused.

I'm glad it worked out for you!

Gui,
Hahaha...nice....
I’ve done the voodoo cast (which crisply pops a dry fly to remove moisture) but I haven’t gotten a fish to rise from shadow casting .....shouldn’t it be called “wind” knot casting?? 😂

Shadowcast: What's all that whipping around supposed to accomplish? Does it somehow extend more line than the double-haul he's doing earlier in the video? Deep, slow fishing: Sounds like the 40 Foot Hole fished like it's a big pond. Maybe that's where you need to "shadow-cast". I've tried the 40 Foot Hole without success. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

JR, tried to add an attachment to original post with pics I did take. As I fish alone, pics are not always best option. ( first trip out, net came loose and only had a handle waiting for me. On both bigger fish 19 and 20, they were stressed enough and rather than waste a beautiful trout, I got the hook out, worked with them a few minutes then watched them swim away for another angler. All fish were released in very good shape and will fight again. It was an honor to meet each and every one of them. Look for deep, quieter water and go slow. Let the current take your fly where it would take normal bait anyway
