As far as fishing goes, it was good as usual just a little different. I caught more rainbows than browns on the dries. Top producer was size 16 stimulator. Caught mostly browns on nymphs. Top producers were the size 20 olive RS2 and size 18 red tailwater soft hackle. Pretty much stayed on the spillway, after Hickory the water got to 71 degrees. Did stop by the power house and caught a smallmouth on an olive WB! Not sure what you all do for water, but I have a sawyer squeeze that is great for this hot weather. Just fill and drink when I want then roll it back up in the pack. Highly recommend.
Park was busier than I’ve ever seen it. Just a madhouse. The trash is becoming overwhelming and almost too much to enjoy even the spillway. Diapers, DIAPERS EVERYWHERE! Obviously the usual cans, wrappers, ect. I found multiple full outfits including nice shoes. It’s insanity. I know the past hasn’t been super successful on clean up days when it comes to people showing up, but I’d be all in with a couple people that’ll come with. Talked to Roberta about maybe a local restaurant offering a beer or food if they show up for it. I’d purchase gloves, bags, ect. if needed. Hell I’ll bring a cooler.

I have not been up there in a while, was thinking of driving out there for an afternoon and maybe do a little fishing, sad to hear about about the trash issue. Where would yo recommend to start fishing to get reacquainted with the river? Fish up stream spillway Creek? Or evening & Cold hole? Thanks,

Thanks, Well if you get out there early and beat the crowd, Hickory/Evening and upstream is always a good starting point to get yourself acquainted and start the day. Other than that, I like to spend my days wandering around the spillway!

Advise to stay home till September or October...... but if you gotta go, go up spillway and throw dry droppers.
