Life's been crazy and I haven't been up to LMF in quite a while. My son and I are heading up Sunday and leaving Friday. With all that's been going on I was up only once last year and once the year before that... that I remember... I'm old. And just as soon as it starts to settle out, I start having health issues and eye problems. And my sons are too busy and one has moved to Michigan. The one that's still here starts a new job on the first so he's probably going to be busy for at least a couple of years... But all that aside... it's time to be thankful for these few days we will have... We'll see you on the river if you're there.

A couple of weeks ago the BWO's seemed to be getting active. The fish were biting on size 20 and 22 RS2 type stuff. Others reported getting bit on very small mayfly nymphs.

We're back home after a nice, but short trip. We caught a few fish and watched a few old movies in the comfort of the travel trailer. We started fishing Monday and I caught a couple on #18 BWOs but had tons of short strike refusals. I knew my waders had leaked, but had no idea how badly. I poured about a quart of water out of the right leg of the old Hodgman waders, and went shopping for a new pair. I got some terrific new Redington waders at the fly shop Monday evening. I had no idea that waders could be so comfortable. Thanks, Roberta! (I think that was her name... I'm old...) Tuesday was even slower but we managed a few... Wednesday we were at the bluffs and it was slow until the construction guys dirtied up the water. I was trying nymphing (I think) with a Rubber Legs under an indicator with a #20 Copper John about a foot under the big fly. I got hit after hit in spurts followed by 15 or 20 minute spells with no bumps at all. All in all we had a good trip except for this morning. It was colder than I had expected and out water hose froze up. We had a spare so we had some cold times getting the trailer drained and road ready. I miss the old river and the old rules... but what's there is certainly better than driving all the way into Arkansas. I sure hope the casino thing doesn't ruin this completely. See ya next time...
