The weekend started off with a failed fishing trip out to Denison Dam on Sat. Managed to drag some family out with me, so we still had fun goofing off. The kid was almost mauled over a burrito by a group of feral kittens, she didn't mind and was sharing bits n pieces happily. Sun morning I decided to make a last-minute trip out to BBow and am pretty glad I did, it made up for the skunky Saturday outing.
Child in tow we started at the top of Spillway, I had a new fly I was trying out behind an RFSHN. We tried a run, no luck, move up, try a few more casts and then "poof" the floaty thing goes down and we had a gorgeous perfect specimen of a rainbow on the test fly. That was fun.

We worked our way around SC for an hour or so, alot of the smaller rainbows were sooo pretty and had a seafoamy blue green tint to them. Didn't see any browns which would have been some icing on the cake. We didn't have much time, last minute trip n all, so we scurried our short legs back up Cardiac and went down to EH. Initially I had wanted to fish Hickory but made a wrong turn and ended at the tail end of formerly rockpile run. That turned out to be an fun little detour for the both of us. The kid loves rocks so she found a few and went to work on the side of the bank while I wondered around setting on rocks in the river. Eventually I set and surprise, there was a trout. Apparently it was a nice little chunk, thankfully not a runner, and she was a handful. I tried to get behind her before she decided to take off downstream and as I stepped in the channel I just kept sliding right into the water. Standing back up wasn't a graceful event but manageable and the pretty girl was still on so I count that as a small win. The big win came when she did decide to dart down stream and I was prepared. I got her into some slack water while the kid came over to marvel at the catch. We laughed about me falling and watched as she shot out of the net back into the current, ending our little trip.
