Sometimes it feels like when that step forward finally happens I get to take a nice fall back. Things don't line up well, didn't check for shrubs on that back cast, a bug went up my nose, can't seem get the hook sets to stick, I literally took a fall. Some fishing days are just like that but they're waaay better than hangin out at work or grocery shopping. This last trip was a hit n miss, I either lost all my good fish or managed to spook them before I could even get my flies out there. Other than the misses, the lookers and takers were really likin big foamy dries and the small fluffy ones too, small droppers were working, especially on that end swing. Saw loads of bugs out, mayflies (no idea what kind), caddis (brown n black), midges, got a peak at a salmonfly (so fancy). I started with a crippled somethin dry, went smaller after a few refusals and misses but it seemed like I only had one chance at certain fish. I had two fish literally fighting each other over that crippled pattern, which was hilarious to me even though neither ended up hooked. Most of the bigger fish wouldn't give me second chances after the last second refusals, the babies sure did though! They were really the little stars of the show for me, lots of action and color. I caught one that had an orange splotchy belly, just CUTE! Anyway, fun was had even if there was alot of failure involved.
