I simply love getting away for a couple of days and spending time on the river, basking in Gods majesty, and catching trout. I was able to arrive early last Thursday and I was the only one fishing lower cardiac for the first few hours. I was able to catch several nymphing using small stuff (rs2, black midge). I decided to work my way up river and hit some of the deeper pockets so I added on a size 16 black stonefly. I was about 6 feet deep when BAMM, He was on and I was in for the best fight I have had in awhile. I literally took my time to tire this old fellow out. After what must have been 5 minutes or so, I was able to get this old "slab of a trout" to the net. How very blessed that was (I tried to load the photo, but it won't let me!). I ended up catching 15-20 trout the rest of the day.
I came back Friday and decided to do some exploring of different water than I usually fish. I began at the Nature Center at 6:30am. My first cast hooked into a nice jumper. After about 2 minutes, he shook the hook loose. Oh well, can't land them all. I fished down to the bridge catching several more smaller stockers in the various runs. I then decided to head upstream, again fishing runs and pocket water. Most of the fish were taking the size 20 green rs2, but I was having some also hit the midge. I didn't seem to be getting any looks on the large stone fly, so I switched it out to a #16 red copper john That did the trick as the sun had come out and the flash of the red seemed to do the trick. I caught several more while fishing up to the big waterfall before calling it a day 9sorry that it won't let me post pictures because some of these trout colors are simply stunning).
All in all another most blessed trip at the LMF.
