Anyone know whether the logs will be removed this year?

I called the fly shop yesterday and asked the same question. She didn’t have a definitive answer. I was told that the more people that contact ODWC (by email or phone) the sooner it will get done. As always, if you DO contact them, DO NOT refer to Fly Fishing. Simply say that it opens up more room for people to fish.
I, too, am anxious about the stop logs coming out. It opens up some of my favorite spots for fishing.

Hopefully I’m wrong but I think they will just start leaving them in.

I talked to ODWC and to Aaron Mabb’s assistant today. They will not be removing the stop logs anymore. They stated that it is too costly if / when they break one of the stop logs. I was told that they’re focusing efforts on ‘other, more essential’ tasks.
I asked directly about the parking fees that they’re raking in. Feedback was that 100 percent of those funds are legislated to go toward capital improvements in the park and other State Parks. No doubt there have been improvements. In my opinion, none of those improvements have been with fly fishing folks in mind. Just my opinion.
That’s all.

Well I've been waiting for the stop logs to come out also before booking a trip there. Looks like it's off to Gore and Eureka Springs. A little more driving but good fishing also.

Sad. The best areas to fish in the winter were day use and swim beach upstream from the logs. Just one more way to turn the park over to all things other than good fishing.

What a shame, but no surprise. I was at LMF once last fall and have been so busy in retirement that I haven't been back. I am wondering if there's a real reason to make that trip, anymore. The last time I was there kids were climbing the rocks and cannon-balling into the Bluff Hole. And with fuel prices being what they are, going further up to Beaver or Cotter seems a remote possibility... I am at least thankful that I got to fish LMF before the floods and bureaucrats ruined it... but it doesn't look like I'll be back except to bring grandsons to do a bit of bait fishing and beginning fly casting. Again... what a shame. 8^(

If I’m just wanting to fish I try to go during the week from fall until when school lets out for summer and never around holidays. I guess everyone likes different things.

I, honestly, have not put much effort into learning the ‘new’ Spillway Creek area. People like TurfDawg posting that there’s good fishing there piques my interest, but I have other spots that I REALLY like to fish, and I rarely feel crowded there. Maybe some day….. JR

No removal of stop logs, no enforcement of barbless in the red zone, allowing people to pull 20'+ trout out of the red zone, and the list goes on of what I consider easy fixes for what could be a trophy spot. However, they did reward us with Froggy Bottoms....

It's a shame about the stop logs not being removed any more. I agree with Jeff. Pulling them in winter used to open up some seriously nice fishing. Someone up-thread mentioned that if you make the effort to speak to the powers over BBSP, don't mention that you're a fly-fisherman. That and other little things tells me that they're not interested in catering to fly fishermen, at all. Probably consider us a specialized little self-interested group. It's their right, I guess. There's probably 100 who wish to casually or recreationally fish for every fly fishermen out there. They appear to be going with the numbers. Judging by the way the RV camping books up now, if what they want is to create a massive as possible play area, it's working. For me anyhow, there's still good fishing when I can go for the day in the winter in the middle of the week. Not everyone is as lucky as I am, though, to live only an hour and 20 away.

Just saw a post by the fly shop on FB that said the stop logs are out. Wish they would post it here.
