Thinking of heading up to camp next week and bring my son. We just got a small pop up tent trailer and will be staying in that. He is disabled and wouldn’t be able to get in water easily to fish. What would be best campground to park in to fish behind camping spot

Just making sure you know that you have to reserve a spot. With your pop-up the closest you could stay would be Fern area but I wouldn’t call it easy access. Might be good to camp there and drive up the river a tad to cold hole parking area

I haven't been able to get up there in a couple of years and have plans of heading up again this year but I parked my camper at Hickory in the past. I've camped at Hickory and Dogwood a bunch with my camper and never had a problem. Are you saying I will now? Although my camper is a slide in truck camper and that may make a difference as I'm not towing anything behind I'm going to have to call up there and make sure I can still camp in Hickory. As to the OP, Hickory is easy access to the river and there are fish there to be caught. You can camp at Fern and drive up to the river at Hickory.

I might be wrong (wouldn’t be the first time lol) but I’ve been told before I could not put the small trailer we had in any of the tent sites

Hickory has good bank access, Grapevine maybe even better. But as others have pointed I just don't know if you're allowed to put your popup in those campgrounds. I think you'll need to call the park office. Maybe you can get an exception?

I was gonna call about hickory. I know it’s tent camping but my pop up trailer opens up and is a tent but probably be considered a regular trailer. Will have to see what they say. I looked online at availability for camper spots and it’s pretty open next week.

prob too late considering the date but Just make sure if you stay at Hickory that you are able to drive down to access your site. I would think some sites would work with a popup, but others you need to park and walk to the site. Look at street view on google maps.

Where/what is this Hickory ? A tent camping area inside the park. It’s on the downstream side of evening hole bridge
