I'm making my first trip to LMF tomorrow. There's some rain in the forecast for Saturday but none for Sunday. What's the best angle to take at fishing in these conditions? I know it can be different in different places Also what's y'all's favorite part of the river to fish?

I always have good luck on san juan worms at LMF, but apparently when it start raining they're even more effective because the rain stirs up the bottom and causes aquatic worms to move. SJW is also a good attractor pattern even when it's not raining. I like to fish a pink san juan on top and an RS2 or zebra midge on the bottom.

It rained all day yesterday (Friday) and the river as off color and flowing at 50% more than the dam release of 100CFS. Also, the construction work being done on Spillway, Lost Creek, and the stop logs created a bit of debris and silt.
San Juan worms are a good attractor - beadhead if possible. Purple and tan worked Thursday. Red and Green worked on Friday. If the color is off, use something with a little sparkle as your dropper (I used rainbow warrior RS2's and zebra midges with gold beadheads.) Also, if the water is flowing more than usual, don't be afraid to jig or bounce your flies. That little bit of movement seems to work. A dead drift is less important in off color water with debris.
Peter will probably chime in soon enough and say "Throw Streamers"! I know he and another guide were tossing them yesterday.
Bigger fish are a little less wary in off color water or during a shower. Good luck. I had great success yesterday dead drifting olive wooly buggers with various mayfly emergers off the back.
Favorite? They are all good! Different water requires different approaches.
There are a lot of small feeder creeks flowing into the LMF right now. It is a soggy mess, but the fishing is great. The river was full bank to bank and flowing at 160CFS yesterday. Normal walkways were covered with flowing water, especially below cold hole.
My report will be in the reports section
