The wife and I went to celebrate our 10th anniversary in Idaho a couple of weeks ago. We drove through the Coeur d'Alene area on our way to Oklahoma a year and half ago and thought it was a beautiful area. It was actually her idea for a relaxing, fishing/photography getaway. We found an awesome little A-frame cabin in Pinehurst, just minutes from the Little North Fork and North Fork Coeur d'Alene river. The river is clear with a greenish tint--very beautiful stream. I didn't do spectacular, but I managed to catch some nice Westslope Cutthroats. The two biggest fish were caught on a large conehead turd stone variation pattern (I think). Others caught on foam hopper patterns and I lost a hog of a fish that snapped a size 16 TMC 2499 SP BL hook (Rainbow Warrior) like a twig. My wife hasn't finished editing all of the good pictures, but here's a couple. The fish were gorgeous, but not terrific fighters (better than Grayling at least! haha) Attachments:

A great report mirv. I haven't been that far north in Idaho yet, but everyone says its really pretty up there.
We have been leaving Oklahoma for the summer and stay in SE Idaho near Teton River. I just got back from working in NM two weeks and lost touch with how the fishing is but when I left the water temps were high in small streams and snow melt water has stopped. But the Teton is cool, very clear and we were catching some great cuttbows on Bird's Nests fished on top and as nymphs.
Fall River at Cave Falls just on the south side of Yellowstone should be good right now. We fished Bitch Creek Canyon two weeks ago and it's too warm for big cutts, they move down to Teton for cooler water.
This fall it's going to be good when it cools off and starts raining.

These pics are on Teton about a month ago. Probably caught 25 rainbows all on Birds Nests

"What, were you settin' on a fish?" "Well, that certainly felt like a fish..." I love the mouth and eye of that fish in the water. Attachments:
