What knot do you guys use now to attach the tippet to a small fly? I've always used the improved clinch know but as the flys get smaller and my eyes and hands get older it has gotten difficult. I hear of tbe Davy knot, and it looks easier to tie, I'm just sure of the strength. Any tips to share?
Thanks!
PS Do you use tippet rings? I like the concept but not tried them. I suppose Coach carries them.

If the knock is laying correctly while cinching down I personally think they hold great. Double Davey on a bit larger hooks. I like Cutthroat Leaders with the tippet ring so I started putting some on my nylon leaders too.

It sounds like I need to give both a try. Sounds like they could make things easier. Thanks!

Second what turfdawg said. I've started using the Davy and double Davy knots almost exclusively and they're much easier to tie. They're very strong as well as long as they are seated correctly.

My primary knot is still the Clinch. Many sites say the improved is stronger, but if it's not seated properly it's weaker. I haven't had issues with the clinch so I've stuck with it.
I'm a big fan of tippet rings--2mm is perfect for trout fishing. They have a 25lb breaking strength and work fine for both nymphing and dry fly fishing. Some people don't use them with they fish dries, but I've had a size 22 CDC Trico spinner float just fine--with fluorocarbon tippet and using a tippet ring. I attach the tippet to the ring via Clinch knot.

For some reason the original Davy Knot has been known to slip when I've tied it, but the Double Davy, never. It's my "go-to" knot at the hook. It's nearly as easy to tie as the Davy. I can tie it most of the time with only about 3/4 inch of tag left over. I also have a knot for holding the fly with a loop that I like to use with streamers, but I forget what it's called.
As to what Mirv said about tippet rings, I love 'em. Since I started using them I can forget about the body of the leader the whole season and only fool with the tippet.

I've been practicing my Davy again, with better results. I think I wasn't seating it properly before. I like the idea of a tippet ring. I will give them a try. Does the beaver bend fly shop carry them?

If the shop doesn't, you can get them off amazon.com. Search for Rio Tippet Rings

Double davy is what I use about 90% of the time on regular flies. It seems to be nice and strong, it makes a very small knot, and, best of all, it's easy to tie in the cold. I have trouble with some of the other knots when my fingertips are frozen and I can't feel the tippet in my fingers. The davy is nice and easy.
For streamers and jigs I use a perfection loop so the fly can get a little more "jiggy" action.

I'm practicing my Davys, hoping it works out withmy bad eyes and club fingers. It looks promising and is much stronger once I tied it correctly. I picked up the 2mm rings. Plan to test it all out in Yellowstone in a couple of weeks.
Thanks!

Park is still 100% open except for Firehole River. They are only requesting gentle treatment of trout in some areas in the park. Temps are pretty high, but not lethal.

They both slip on me.....not sure what im doing wrong Here's the Double Davy knot I use. (There seems to be more than one.) DD knot animationThis one never fails me and I've gotten fairly quick with it. The knot is small and I can get the tag end to be hardly more than 3/4 inch. You know you've done it right when there's a kind of little click when it finishes tightening and the tag end sticks out at 90 degrees.

I did see that the other day, thanks. I believe the closed section is outside the park. I'm not sure just where i will fish as my wife will be with me and she doesn't fish.
