In need of a backup raft for habitat assessment. I am currently waiting to hear back from someone on whether their guide raft is seaworthy for zone 3. A valve seems to not be holding air but might get worked out before next Friday. I know this is last second but does anybody have access to a guide raft or large raft that can hold 2-3 people, 60lb marine battery, and some smaller equipment? I am doing habitat assessment next Friday in Zone 3 and need to have a backup just in case this raft doesn't work out. This second raft I am waiting on was my backup. Any leads? Let me know and maybe you can be part of trout research!

I would loan you mine but it got multiple large holes chewed in it by a rat! It was in a box in the garage. I had to throw it out. Needless to say, I got the sucker. The moment I saw the corner of the box chewed through, I had to investigate. Good thing it wasn't too expensive. Attachments:

I have a stable flat-bottom 16' canoe, but probably not what you're looking for haha

Oh ha, those kinds of drops. Yeah I think I would opt to portage.

I was fortunate enough to spend some time on the Payette River in Idaho when I lived there. The LMF doesn't get that exciting!

I have seen the payette blowing hard enough to cover the road next to it. There isn't even a class that large. Suicide class maybe. I really liked the McCall area up there. Sorry, off topic.

It definitely floods out but it is a pretty amazing white water river that is for sure.

Is it Zone 2 that is normally off limits to boat travel also?

No raft but a Wenonah Fisherman Canoe, a wide stable canoe. I assume the 3' drop would be getting through Presbyterian Falls. It's made it through a few times but not loaded down. I have used it with an electric trolling motor and heavy / large marine battery. Seats two comfortably. If you need to use it in a pinch, I'm in Broken Bow.

Zone 2 can be accessed by a boat ramp above the reregulation dam. I've seen big boats there before. You can go quite a ways up but you'd probably be best off not being on it when they start generating. If you had a 15hp or larger motor you could easily beat the rush of water back to the boat ramp though. Is it Zone 2 that is normally off limits to boat travel also? SaveSave

Thanks for checking in on this post everyone. I have secured a raft for the zone 3 side scan trip. We will be doing this at the end of February and starting to sample for juvenile trout as well.
