March 11-12, PLano, TX at the Plano Center. Great roster of speakers and instructors - Lefty Kreh, Wanda Taylor, Bob Clouser, and many more. Lots of destination type events, casting instruction, fly tying, and even some medical emergency presentations ( I have to go to that one). I will be going both days for sure. Here is the link:

Oh, and free craft beers too! and some for purchase as well......
Open to anyone, tickets sold online or at the door. Should be a really good time for any serious or eager fly anglers.

Jeff, Will you be in attendance to the TX Fly Fishing Festival & Brew fest? Me and wife will be attending and have VIP after party tickets for Sat Evening.

This will be our first one. My wife is more supportive and less active when it comes to fly fishing. She has a heart of gold to put up with me. lol

How was the event? I wished I could have attended to support the event, but I had planned to visit my daughter in college that weekend. Good turnout?

Turnout was great. I went Saturday and had a blast. Even got my picture take with the very famous Dan Orr. He guides a little for Eddie and Roberta. Absolute legend in the fly fishing industry. 😉

Yes that's Tom Rosenbauer. He had a cool presentation about improving your trout fishing. Then he just kind hung out at the festival. Pretty awesome to get meet him, really nice guy. Also, listened to a presentation from Bob clouser all about bass fishing. Didn't get a pic with him though.

Rosenbauer was there both days, Ed Jaworowski, Wanda Taylor, Sage Rods chief designer, all the TFO guys, even Dain Wise. Funny story, Rosenbauer gave 3 presentations and each of them ran 10-15 minutes over and he had to cram the last half of his info into the last 10 minutes. That guy can talk!
Dan is wearing his OKlahoma Sooners T shirt - several people thought he was Joe Mixon.
About 60 booths with Kayak guys, travel groups, far-flung destination managers (Northern Manitoba, Colombia, Argentina, Kamchatka, and Alaska to name a few), equipment reps, merchandisers, and more. I went to about 12 hour long presentations to gather info for bucket list trips. Also guys from the medical field (I Needed that one), Colorado, and fly shops did events. My wife took Wanda's casting class and came away wanting to go fishing! I can't attest to the craft beers since I don't drink, but the friends I gave drink tickets to willingly drank free beer. I know several of the casting presentations were well attended.
I got my picture taken with somebody well known in the fly fishing circles, but as luck would have it, my phone got scrambled and I lost my last 3 months of pics.
I hope they do it again next year, but maybe at a smaller venue or at least on a separate weekend from the Fort Worth and Athens events.

Sounds like an excellent time. So they have one in Fort Worth also? Isn't that basically the same place? I like Rosenbauer and the Orvis videos. Good way to kill some time when not fishing and when my wife is watching the Great British Bake Off. Golfer Jeff- it a refreshing to hear of someone else who doesn't drink. I used to like drinking too much, so they told me I should quit.

This event coincided with Trinity River event in Fort Worth (50 miles away) and TFFC Athens event (100 miles). PLano got the bigger names, but Ft worth was outdoors, you got to fish, and sounded like it was less stuffy. TFFC event was right at the center in Athens.

It would have been nicer if Lefty Kreh hadn't had some medical problems. Wanda Taylor took over his presentation as the very last minute. That woman can cast and make it look like no effort at all. My wife made me take a lesson from Wanda and she showed me some things I do wrong. She can scold you for doing wrong and you feel ok about it. Bob Blousers presentations were good. Mike Tayloe the medical man was very informative and now I want a sat phone and Global Rescue before next trip. LOL. The trip presentations were good and wife has been looking into some for us for vacation. Vendors were plentiful, except for tying materials. Wife was surprised by Kayak costs, she said she thought they would have been about twice the cost of what they were. I agree that it would be better next year if it didn't coincide with the other events.
