Is there a map available that displays the many locations along the river that are discussed on here? My wife and I only fish one area, on Spillway Creek, and we don't even know if it is labeled. We would love to be able to venture out to the other areas that sound so fun.

I think there's a good map of the park posted on this website.
-Umm, actually it's the one that Hankinsfly has linked to, that I'm thinking of. It's really good. I started with it several years ago.

I'm only guessing but for some reason I think the Day Use Area is along the slow water that comprises the bend just upriver of the Fern campground. Maybe? Fly shop guys? Anyone?

I know over the weekend we stopped in the fly shop and they have really nice maps/flyers for the park.

The traditional 'day use area' is below/beside the start of Fern campground. When stop logs are in, it is unfishable on foot. From Dec thru March you can wade the entire length.

Isn't it above Fern Campground but below Hickory? That's what I've been calling the DYA. I never specified it on the public forum because I'd gotten the idea it was some kind of "secret spot".

Please explain "stop logs" for the unwashed among us...

Please explain "stop logs" for the unwashed among us... These are crossties that they put in place at the fly shop bridge and the swim hole bridge. They cause the water area behind them to rise and slow down.

So in wintertime when they remove the stop logs a couple of spots between the swim beach and Hickory Campground become wadeable. I only know of a couple. There may be more.

Stop Logs = Cost effective removeable dams at the bridges mentioned above. Fish move upstream when they are removed, greatly increasing the chances at larger and wild or wild* fish.

Bill, right where the gravel road leads back and the sign says "No Camping", it's some nice riffles and a nice flat, currently about 18" to 2ft deep. Downstream within sight it looks like more riffles, but I haven't visited.

Jonbo, I didn't get a PM from you. I'm trying to figure out where the spots like "Evening hole", "bluffs", etc. are. The maps from the state and the lake are really vague.

Hey Adamundo, I've sent a detailed description of various wading spots to "Adamundo" and "Adamundo63". I hope you get at least one of them.

Excellent map...Thanks!
One small question. Near the bluff is what appears to be the original river channel going back toward the dam. Does it still exist? Any water Flow? Fishable?
