So I was changing fly line when I noticed that my backing was slightly tacky and waxy. Really glad I caught it since I might never get into my backing trout fishing but, if I somehow did, I doubt my tippet would last long when my backing is stuck to itself.

Since most of us don't use dental floss for backing, I should be ok. Haha
Not a bad suggestion to check though! I just may do that tonight.

A roll of Teflon Tape from WalMart .99 works perfect. Impervious to everything. My .02

It's a pretty expensive backing I got back a few years ago when I ordered a 2wt (I know backing on a 2wt, he must be crazy) but I have seen it pretty often catching catfish and carp. Anyways I figured since I got a new reel I decided to toss that stuff and get some cortland micron! Turns out hot pink looks hella good on a black reel.
