I have been coming around to the dark side and fishing some graphite. I am really looking at some 10'ers. Top of my budget would be the Orvis Recon, then Reddington Hydrogen, then Fenwick Aetos and then Cabelas CZN. For $200 and lifetime warranty and great reviews I am really thinking about the Cabelas CZN.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am thinking about the 4wts instead of the 3s just so maybe I can use it for different things also.
Is the fly shop carrying any of these "Czech" rods?
Frank and Even, feel free to chime in.

That being said, my Cortland has already been ordered.

But the new Orvis rod has a down locking reel seat like a glass rod. Can you say balance

Turfdawg, before you jump the fence to the dark side, check your PMs.

Jeff, Nice. I figured if a couple of the top US guys are fishing these rods, their opinions might mean something. I don't know if they are sponsored by Cortland but the rods seem reasonably priced and well designed. Sounds like they can do more than just sling mono leaders and Euro style flies. I'm ready for Evan's opinion too. Btw, I'll be in your neck of the woods again next week. I'm bringing a couple of pencils...one for each eye.

Euro nymphing rod = hippy communist version of a 10' B n' M crappie pole. I'll sell you fellas a cane pole for way less

I have a 10' 4wt TFO BVK right now which honestly is a surprise to fish as far as TFOs go. I usually use 6x on it and have yet to break one off and it's pretty nice for a rod that can euro nymph and suspension nymph.

But in other news my next long rod will be a 10' 2wt because I love throwing tiny flies on tiny tippet and I have a 10' 4wt to cover my bigger fish if I'm expecting large fish!

TB, I have that same rod. It's a long story how I ended up with it, but I like it! I probably won't ever get another euro-nymphing-type rod, because I don't anticipate fishing that style all that much, but the 10' BVK 4 wt works quite fine, IMO, as an all-around trout rod, in case anyone wants to know!

Those 10' rods come in handy when fishing wet flies and deep nymphing.

All I'm saying is imagine the possibilities of 2 size 16 perdigons, 6x or 7x tippet, and a 10'+ 2 or 3wt rod in spillway 😍

I have been shopping lol Sage ESN, Patagonia vest sling and the new net from the fly shop. Now I need to make a trip and give the new rod a try.

If your going to buy in to the European stuff, I would go all in. I would stay away from buying off brand/companies that are not well know for their European nymphing rods/gear. With that being said, My personal first choice would be the sage ESN. I've fished that rod so many times with it never having any difficulties. Next I would go with Cortland, I've yet to personally fish one but most of the guys I fish with/against love the Cortland rods. There are other options out there that require research and time, but overall I would personally stick to Sage or Cortland.

I believe the major players, as far as easily available in the us rods go, are the Sage esn, Cartland comp rods, syndicate, and echo. But some others from the USA would be the TFO BVK 3wt with a conversion kit, Winston and hardy both have rods that I can't remember the names of, the reddington hydrogen, orvis recon and Helios 2.

Now I'm in a dilemma. I have never spent more on a reel than I have on a line since in my opinion they just hold my line. However, I really don't want to put one of my old clickers on this long graphite rod.

Sage 2200! Same great drag as the more expensive series, heavier to help balance the rod, and under $150
