Limited to 'Trout'....... smallmouth, largemouth, spotted bass, sunfish, and walleye count towards another type of recognition. Suckers and stonerollers too.

After all is said and done, it does seem very likely the fish was a hatchery brookie. Still a good story either way. The background from the ODWC explains it pretty well. Thanks Ward, for the investigation. I knew somebody would have a connection to get us informed. It does seem that the ODWC would like that fish to be gone, so if I catch it it will become science and then dinner.
Kyle and ODWC - we do appreciate both your explanation and your involvement in our fishery. We have had a ball with these brooder rainbows over the last few months. One only has to look at the 'fishing for monsters' thread to verify. Thank you. I certainly didn't want any negative attention brought to the hatchery for a simple fence jumper Char. As long as it is limited and non-reproductive, we enjoy having different fish swimming around.
The cutts we have seen are just rainbows with a genetic link to cutts. The hatchery I worked in many years ago was one of the first to raise pure cutts and they still couldn't keep them from spawning with rainbows. The science has evolved, but the diluted genetics are everywhere. Still a nice surprise to land a few cuttbows in the LMF.
BBFSMB has been a hotbed the last few days..... fantastic!
Thanks to everyone!
