Taking my 13 yr son next week to go fishing. He struggles at fly fishing & just want him to land a fish or 2. Any advice or best location for him to do a little spin fishing?

I say this all the time, but have him lob a soft hackle down and across on a fly rod. He will most likely get some strikes and probably land a few. Best water type is a run below a riffle, 2' to about 6' deep, slow-medium current. Spring is the best time for that.

Stand at the bottom of the riffles and have him cast across them and swing it slowly across. I cannot imagine him not catching a trout right there:)

Hankinsfly, absolutely not!!! Everyone in that age range needs to be fishing the middle of spillway creek leaving the easy wading spots for us old farts and accident prone [aka Jeff].
