A couple from the year before last at the Catch and Release area on blue! There was about 4 trout this size in a hidden pool and they loved the big streamers

Wish I had taken up FF before the floods! I literally had no idea or perceived notion on fly fishing till I started trout hunting on the LMFR! Before that it was crappie, crappie, crappie, and a bass or catfish (plus sunfish, I sure do love the sunfish) here and there. I wanted to learn to fly fish to be able to add more trout to my stringer and now I'M TOTALLY CONVERTED TO C&R, for trout at least. Actually I'm almost completely converted to to fly fishing but I love the colors of soft plastics too much to give up my fav crappie spinning set up [/span] The real sad part is I got to go to Yellowstone the year before I started fly fishing and it hurts just thinking of all the missed opportunities!!! Not to mention all the trips to the San Juan and Colorado as a child, if only...

This thread is exactly why we don't come in the summer.

This project has been in the works the past couple months but approvals, design, and ordering all needed to happen before it could be reality. The signs look fantastic installed. Attachments:

Well there's no missing signage THAT big. So new they don't even have bullet dents yet. Yet.

And the nerve of those two fisherman going after trout with drills, pick axes and post hole diggers. That's a new one.
Seriously, thanks for the hard labor putting them up in the hot weather.

Fen, someone should tell them there are no steelhead in those waters behind them and no gold, only Rainbows.

At least the signage clarifies that only fishermen can go swimming in the Red Zone. Still and all, using drills, pick axes and post hole diggers on trout is going a bit Medieval don't you think? I mean, where's your sportsmanship? Oh, right, in drills and pick axes and post hole diggers. It's that trendy "paleo" thing nowadays. Noodling and Tenkara is so last year. I think I see DeWalt in the photo. Is all your gear American made? Some of we budget minded guys can't afford the top shelf stuff and hafta resort to the copycat Asian made knockoffs at Harbor Freight but one day I aspire to a vom Hofe 1/2" cordless.

Glad to see that.
Is that Ryan on the left and why is he giving Jeff the one finger salute?

The sign that Ryan, Coach, and Cody put in was removed and thrown into the woods last week. I believe it is already back up and probably installed with a special hex headed driver this time. People are unbelievable.

Better yet, electrify it, then put a closed circuit camera on it, then sell tickets to watch the carnage at the Nature Center. Voila! Revenue!

Thanks for the photos posted today and earlier this week. Got any more? If they did indeed close off the water from flowing along the cypress tree side of the rock pile did they also fill the length of that water course with rocks? -Fenwick

When I was up there a couple of weeks ago the Cypress side had been reduced to more or less a trickle. It wasn't exactly filled with rocks through it's length, more up at its head, and not enough to stop it up completely. It's part of what makes me think we're just in some interim stage up there. Also, there was no flat area at all along the shore of the run past the rock pile. The rock pile dropped straight off into the river as steeply as rocks can be arranged. You would get hurt in a rock slide trying to walk down it. You can walk on top of the rock pile or in the middle of the stream starting at one end or the other. Don't try to reach the stream once you're on the rock pile or you'll get hurt. It's terrible, right now. I just can't think that the way it currently is is the way it's meant to remain. I wish they'd communicate a little.

I'm laughing out loud about the signage being electrified. Can you imagine the Idiot Viewer in the Nature Center. We'd all be in there watching in absolute hysterics, crying with laughter. Or doing so streamside anyway.
Oh, I'm sorry. I have that kind of warped sense of humor. Pardon me.

Or doing so streamside anyway. Oh, I'm sorry. I have that kind of warped sense of humor. Pardon me. Not sure what this says about me, but I was thinking if someone started shooting at their feet from a hide position, it would lend some credence to our intention of keeping that water preserved for trout and trout anglers. I am not saying we shoot anyone...just some shots to move the rocks. That would be fun to see. I remember riding my bike down this dirt road and this old man had these big dogs that would give chase. That old man never called his dogs or anything. I am convinced he gave them treats when they returned.

Todd those same signage vandals probably already tote guns themselves which they are all too ready and willing to shoot at any and everything for no particular reason, yee-haw! These dangerous types are the ones who pepper street signs while driving past so why not pop off a whole buncha rounds at the new streamside signage too. Don't matter if anyone is downrange while they are shooting because those folks oughta get outta the way if they don't like being shot dadgummit! Like you fishermen! G'won, git!
