Is there an online source that post updated reports of current water temperatures for the LMF and/or SC? I’ve tried to do some research myself, but haven’t been able to find anything ... my apologies in advance if there’s an obvious answer to this question that I have overlooked ...
I try to fish once or twice a month, and have some flexibility in my schedule. It would be nice to maximize those trips when I can ... that being said, if I get a chance to fish, I’m fishing - regardless of water weather/water temp, etc.
I recently purchased a thermometer, and can share my readings in the future... infrequent as they may be...
Thanks for the help!

I had a 51F reading at mid Spillway yesterday. But this is from a cheap thermometer bought online, so it may not be the most accurate.

Your temp readings would be great to have.

There is a permanent water temp monitoring station at swim beach bridge, that has wildlife and foundation stickers on it. I’ve asked around and cannot seem to find where the temps are shared publicly.

Thanks for the replies ... I didn’t know about the monitoring station. I definitely don’t mind passing on any data I collect. I’ll be up to fish in the next week, week and a half...

It didn’t seem too cold when I face planted at the bluffs the other day.

Did you know that most 'Shamu's' are female?
Water temp on Thursday was 52 upper spillway and 55 above swim beach.

I was there and can verify the face plant. It was a slow motion thing of beauty. Cannot confirm anything about this “massive 2”er” but let the record show that Bill tends to exaggerate.

Fished yesterday ... already had a trip planned before finding out about the spillway release, and thought I might be able to get some fishing in before they started - I was wrong ... threw a few streamers anyway - no luck, lots of debris. For what it’s worth, I measured water temp adjacent to Dogwood campground, and got a reading of 45. Air temp was 33, wind chill 27.

Awesome! Did you take any pics of the doubles? Got a short (not very good) video. I try not to get the phone out too much while I’m on the river ... Attachments:IMG_0054.MOV (5.55 MB)

New here. Hello everyone. I’d love a day like that or even a little bit of that! I’ve been casting to stockers for the past few weeks in the local Dallas ponds that have been stocked. Not a single hookup. I’ve tried everything in my fly box. Frustrating!

The easiest thing I know of to do that will probably catch some fish at the LMF is to swing a wooly bugger in the current. An egg pattern under an indicator is often very effective. By far the most sure thing and the way to learn the river efficiently is, on at least your first trip or two, call the fly shop and hire a guide. You'll learn how to fish for trout at the LMF way, way quicker that way.
