I wouldn't have thought about any of you for a hundred bucks... so you oughta have to pay up... Seriously, it seems a lot of interest has dwindled away. I hope I'm wrong. I used to come up there a couple of times a year with my two sons, but sadly one of them passed away in June due to an accident. In spite of all of that I was planning to come up for a week in January, so I have a few questions. Is the state stocking regularly, and how often? Are there good numbers of fish? Has the limit changed and are the red zones expanded at all? You can probably tell it's been some time since I was there. Going back will be bittersweet since my son that passed found the LMF first and turned his brother and I on to it. Thanks in advance for advice and answers.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your son. That is a terrible loss.
Unfortunately I cant answer your questions as i haven't fished lately either and I'm also confused about red zones (if any) and most other things around the park.

So very sorry about your son. Yes the limit and zones have changed. Now from the spillway all the way to the old park dam you can use bait, it’s barbless and the limit is 3 Rainbows. Browns are catch and release.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I was at the LMF about a week ago. I had decent luck. I called the fly shop a day or two prior to going, and I was told that trout had not been stocked in a month.
Fishing was tough. There were not many people fishing. I was pleased with that much. I did catch fish. They were VERY picky. Midges were hatching in clouds, and the fish were focused on them.
Stop logs may or may not be pulled this year. Be prepared for shock if you haven’t been in the area for a while. It’s turning into Hochatropolis with construction everywhere, to include a massive casino at the North entrance to the park.

Thanks everyone for the information. I'm glad we got to fish there a few times before the flooding. My sons and I had some memorable trips. I think my remaining son and I will try in February, sometime... for old times sake. We usually put our trailer in the Armadillo section because we can get a sewer and keep from stinkin' the place up. It's sad that it has turned into tourist city but the state seems only interested in money. Thanks again... see you there... maybe.

Since you said it has been awhile I just wanted to make sure that you know now all sites have to be reserved

So sorry for your loss, such a tragedy. I miss the LMF so much. I was lucky to have fished there through the 90's up until the floods starting in 2015. My son learned to fly fish there and he still fly fishes, in Colorado now with his son. I often wonder how the people in Broken Bow feel about the new "prosperity". Whether they are better off now or if the boom has just taxed them out of their homes and caused them to relocate. In any case I've been fishing northern NM for the past few years but still miss the old LMF.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss, Schrederman. Sincerely.
It's somewhat different now. You have to reserve your camping spot in advance. It's the same fishing rules everywhere (no red zone). They don't stock Zone 2. Spillway Creek is a moons ape of rocks, although it holds a lot of fish. It's a bit treacherous to walk. I'd say BB probably still has plenty-o-fish. It's just somewhat changed.
