I got a tube of sighter wax from the shop, because like may creatures on this planet I like bright colorful things. I used it a few times but can't seem to get it to stick to my line very well. I think the tippet may be too thin, it says its for leader, sooooo I dunno?? Is that even possible(kidding)? I mostly dry/dropper but have a few ideas for this stuff if I can figure out how to get to stay on the line. Tips appreciated!!

I personally do not care for the wax. It’s pretty bright but rubs off really easily and messy. Most of the comp guys use it mainly on 6X and 7X so I doubt you’re too thin. Did you get Skafars?

It's just the generic stuff from Hareline or Wapsi, the flayshop had a few tubes. I got the neon orange. It just says "sighting wax" with a soft hackle on it. I had it in my bag but wasn't too sure on the melting point so I took it out. Been thinking about giving it another shot so we'll see.

I use Skafars Neon wax a lot. Especially when I'm fishing up and down the Spillway and adjusting my drift depths all the time — going from deep pools to shallows. The pink color seems to pop the most for me, but it might just be my eyes or the sunglasses tint. It sticks really well to 6X tippet. The only bummer is that it gets messy on warm days. The wax turns super soft, and suddenly it's all over your rod, clothes, hands — everywhere. To deal with that, I carry a little piece of cloth to wipe off the extra goo. Also, another tip from Devin Olsen: dunk the wax in the water before using it, which helps a bit.
When it's really hot, I've been trying out Sakura solid paint markers. They're not messy at all, stick like crazy on the tippet, and are super visible. The only catch is once you paint your tippet, it's kinda tough to rub off. Doable, but you'll need to rub hard with your fingernails or a piece of cloth. I feel like the rubbing might compromise the tippet's strength if you're making a lot of adjustments in the same section.
At the end, once again, it probably comes down to experimenting and finding what works for you!

Haha, just reading the title of the thread again.
I feel like I missed an opportunity and should have replied something like:
"I usually embrace natural hair, but when I don't, I prefer Skarfar Neon Wax..."
Damn it Smallfry, I need to work

gui Thank you for noticing the title, I was so proud of that one Ugh, yeah when it gets hot I might not be willing to chance the melting. I've already lost control of a puck of mucilin, not fun.

I don't mess with wax, but I also don't have trouble seeing my sighter either 🤷♂️
I'm probably doing a number of things wrong, though, lol.

I've been using Adams euro-leader mono. Ordered it from TFF, or something. Works nicely. It's bright white, easy to see. I'm running the 4x. I've also run Amnesia green. It's also really visible. So I haven't needed too much in the way of sighter. But, like Gui, I'm using that solid paint pen. I think I ordered it from,... man, I don't know where I ordered these things from. Anyway, if you're running the white Adams leader, the black paint works really well. The orange doesn't show up as well for me. I haven't tried removing it. Supposedly you use Magic Eraser.
One advantage of this kind of setup is its simplicity. You don't have to tie in a separate sighter material. 30' of Adams to tippet ring, to tippet. Just paint a sighter on with the paint stick. Also, the paint from the stick doesn't tend to slide around or anything.
