I live in DFW (Denton) and need to connect with a local club I guess. I see there is a Dallas one and Ft Worth choice. Is there one I am overlooking? Any thoughts? Purpose: I need to plug in somehow and find more places to fish. Seems like the LMFR is struggling and will for a while. I will go this fall, but need to branch out. Maybe I need to look toward Ark as I have read.
DFW guys/gals: where do you fish in the warm months? How do I plug into the Guadalupe?
thanks as always -

Guad has a Trout Unlimited chapter. That is one place to start. I don't fish there though. Personally, I head to Colorado, northern NM, or fly to other destinations in the rockies. Arkansas is a good option in the summer if you have a boat. It is not a wade-able fishery for much of the summer due to generation.

The Orvis store in Austin can connect you with guides for the Guadalupe. Your other resources would be the Dallas Fly Fishers, the Orvis store in Plano, the Orvis store in Dallas, Tailwaters fly shop in Dallas and the big box Bass Pro in Garland and the Cabelas in Ft. Worth and Allen too. You can also wait for guys in here to post where to go and what to do. Heck, I just learned the guy who cubes right behind me is a fly fisher and has lots to share. The young woman who moved in as a neighbor has a pink skifflife decal on her vehicle so I HAD to chat her up about fly fishing for redfish from a skiff in the Gulf. You have more resources than you know.

If anyone ever wants to come fish the Little Missouri River at Murfreesboro, Arkansas, I'd be happy to show them around. I just looked it up, it's 4 hours from Dallas. Broken Bow shows to be 2 hours and 45 minutes, so the Lil' Mo's a speck further. There's about 5 good places to fish. The river has a deal less flow than the LMF. It's kind of a mini-LMF. As such, it doesn't hold-over trout very well during the summer, so it's basically all somewhat recent stockers. Occasionally there's a larger fish that has managed to summer close to the dam. I was just about to add that there's good camping close by, but my wife just informed me that all the camping at Lake Greeson is closed October 31 to March 1. Unfortunately the fishing season at the Lake Greeson tailwater runs October 31 to May (or something like that.) There are plenty of motel and cabin-like accomodations close by. Anyhow, if anyone ever wants to come up to Murfreesboro and give it a try and wants someone to show them around a little, let me know!

I have a few open weekends this fall.

jonbo, that's one heck of an offer! I've been looking at the map to the east so I'm very interested. I'm up almost every weekend and always looking for an excuse to make it 3 or 4 days if the weekends are too crowded.

Jonbo, I will try to get my calendar nailed down and shoot for week 1 of Dec as you suggested. Would like to take you up on your offer to show off your water.
How is the warm water fishing? Maybe I could come up before trout season on my own, learn the water and catch some small mouth or panfish. I assume there are some small mouth up there from Greeson. Prob some Crappie. Do you fish above the lake or below? I read about Albert Pike campground...
