Gui, Nice write up! That last rainbow looks incredible--looks like a rainbow from the Kanektok River in Alaska! (not that I've been there) Thanks JP! But to be fair, I think it is one of these rare occurrences where the picture does more justice to the fish . Yet who knows, the pectoral fins of that stream born fish might have been chopped off by a kiamichi grizzly bear

New to the forum and new to trout fishing. Just wanted to say I was lucky enough to get to attend trout camp this past weekend. It was a great weekend of fishing you guys....those of you I met were very good to meet. Great experience for my first time to the river, really enjoyed it and cant wait to get back there again. Thank you all very much for the hospitality and organizing this event.

It was so awesome meeting everybody! I had a blast fishing and chatting with ya'll and eating I wish I had taken more pics, besides my blurry astrophotography misadventure by the river. BTW, I would like to thank the rescue team that went out for my cell that Friday evening and a big thanks to Glitchmo for finding it. Hanksinfly, HUGE "thank you" for putting this together. You rock. Everyone was so welcoming and fish-minded. Jonbo, it was very nice meeting miss Regina, ya'll are a hoot! Looking forward to the next meet up

It was a great gathering and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone. Thanks so much for putting this together Hanksinfly. Next time I'll not be bringing a circus tent that caused me to set up away from the activities. (Though it was pretty comfortable). It was an adventure for me for sure. LOL With the "Blizzard of 2017" in Austin to start with and 18F temp when we arrived and the miserable failure of my super duper ?? air mattress midway through Friday night: it was interesting and memorable. We caught fish though, and quite a few. My first Brown, ended up catching 6 or 7 of them up to about 13". Many Rainbows including two native fish about 13 and 14". Saw several large fish that were uncooperative with me and my perfect presentations. LOL My son James and co-worker Eliseo caught their first trout and were really taken in by the beauty of the park. Both are ready to go again as soon as they can arrange it. The Hickory location by the river was ideal and I look forward to the next event if it happens. An annual or even semi-annual Trout Camp would be great IMHO. A Spring TC would be great. Thanks again.

Thanks for the kind words, but all I did was say let's get together and painted a sign! We have a really cool group of fly anglers, all brought together because of the Bristers, the shop, and the people who are responsible for this message board. So a big thank you to you all. Thanks again to Darrell for helping everyone out. Your and Smallfry's enthusiasm is contagious! We are pretty fortunate to have this cold water fishery here in bass country. We should be grateful for it and the people who make it all work.

Looks like you guys had a blast. Lots of great looking fish. Wish I could have made it but work at the end of the year is just crazy. If I hadn't had to fly out Sunday to go to Virginia I would have been there. Maybe I can make the next one.

The long awaited pic of David double below re-reg David is a legend now. I have asked him if he would do a short clinic at next year's trout camp on how to catch a double. He asked if I would contact "his people" because the demand for speaking engagements is so high right now. It's understandable. I will do what I can for the 2018 camp. Congrats David - I did witness this rare feat.

During the Christmas break I fished the Blue at 26 degrees and my waders literally froze onto my boots during the hike back to my jeep. With the wind, my phone said it felt like 17. No bueno for Toddo

Hahaha! Yes, it was quite the feat. The best part was the look on Jeff and Todd's face when I asked if it counted because I was actually trying to catch the small one on the wholly bugger and the big one on the dropper! Then I came clean and admitted, I caught them using one of my most productive techniques... my line got tangled in my vest and tippet spools. I let my flies swing downstream while I spent three minutes untangling everything. Went to cast and walla... peanut butter & jelly sandwich, DOUBLE! True story.

My most productive technique is to trail a double rig behind me while I trudge upstream. Sad,but (nearly) true.

I'm probably unable to do what we did in December, but that shouldn't stop others from having a trout camp! I will get the trout camp sign to you I'm trying to go to AR to catch some spring caddis in March or April, and have to go camp somewhere with my Texan cousins on Spring Break. I don't think I want to be near BB on Spring Break weekend though. Probably crazy with people.

Let's just have a smaller Trout Camp at BullShoals in April!

There's an idea! -or the JFK campground at Heber Springs (Little Red River); -or the campground beneath the Norfork dam (as you've pointed out, it's relatively easy wading on the Norfork); -or the campground beneath the Beaver Dam (White River, by Eureka Springs). There's good wading around there, plus some can stay at Spider Creek resort, if they like, a bicycle ride away, with excellent cabins. Note: I make all these suggestions without having the slightest idea if I could make it or not.

Well..... I missed the trout camp with the promise that I'd get to come directly afterward. I still haven't made it. If you guys are talking about Norfork or Beaver. I'd definitely try for that, depending on timing... MAN!! I need a fishing break!
