I tend to overthink and overpack but I'm getting older and don't want to haul an extra 10 pounds of gear around all day if I don't need to. I haven't been to Beavers Bend in almost 2 years but I'm going to go September 8-12. 😀 Looking for recommendations of minimum gear to take. Not sure yet if I'll be going into Zone 2 but I might. Nymphing has been my most productive in the past. Suggestions appreciated.

The Orvis Fishing Report webpage is usually helpful. Be sure to click on the "Fly Patterns" tab. The Cinnamon Ant and the Hexagenia dry fly patterns were good for me about a month ago. I'm pretty sure terrestrials will be good now as well. Orvis Fishing Report - LMFR

You talking just fishing gear? Probably just three to four spools of tippet, some shot, one fly box with three of everything (with the rest of the fly boxes left in the truck), maybe some Gink, net, wading staff maybe, camera/phone, polarized sunglasses, water bottle

The only thing I generally bring that weighs 10 or more pounds is my beer..

I'm a minimalist myself. No vest or chest pack. To spend three or four hours in the water, I use a neck lanyard that has tools and tipet. Two small fly boxes, shot, indicators, wide brimed hat, polorized shades, water, snack, and if I plan on keeping a few, I grap my polar creel that just slings over the shoulder. My waders have chest pockets.

Be aware that Zone II probably can only be fished in the morning. Much higher flows usually start, due to hydro power generation, in the early afternoon and continue into the evening. During those high flows you may have to fish above the powerhouse such as in Evening Hole, Cold Hole, or Spillway Creek

Yes, just fishing gear. That sounds reasonable for a morning or afternoon session. Thanks for the Zone 2 information too. Im really excited to go. Last trip was a few months after the first flood.

Stephen- how do you pack in a water bottle without a vest? Well I don't know how he does it, but I have a holder that clips to my wading belt.

My creel has mesh pockets that a water bottle fits, Or I have a bottle holster that clips on my wader belt. Then some times I just squeeze one under the belt.
