Gentlemen: It was about this same time of year 27 years ago when a job transfer brought me from McLean, Virginia to Dallas, Texas where I've lived and worked ever since. Time passes and this past Monday the 11th I accepted a new job offer...in McLean, Virginia. I'm to be there Monday Oct. 2nd which leaves me little time to find a new place to live, pack up my stuff here and relocate. That means no more fishing trips to the LMF. Oh to be sure I've already done my online research about fly fishing in the general vicinity of D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia and there's plenty, much more than what I knew of when I lived in McLean all those years ago. Thing is I must say goodbye to Beavers Bend, the LMF and to my fishing buddies here. I've had twelve great years on the water in Oklahoma since the Sid Ingram shop days. The waterside camaraderie meeting up with other fly fishermen just couldn't be beat. Same for meeting here in virtual fashion. You're all a fine bunch. This website isn't going anywhere so I can stay in touch and post photos of all the seven and eight inch native brookies to be caught in five foot wide brooks in the Shenandoah Valley. There's big browns in the limestone streams of south central Pa. (ask Golfer Jeff) and rainbows elsewhere. I'm looking forward to the camping and fishing up there but already missing Beavers Bend especially with the Fall season upon us. I'll proudly be able to show off this website and all your postings and plug Eddie's shop and guide service to those up north who may wonder about trout fly fishing so far south.
I'm going to miss my time with my fishing buddy Brad Bessett most of all. The most excellent sportsman I've ever met.
Thank you Brad, thank you all.
- Grant aka Fenwick

Wish we could've gotten together before, Mr. Fenwick. Safe and travels back to VA.

We'll miss you Grant. Our loss is Virginia's gain. I've really enjoyed talking fly-fishing here with you. Take care, and keep in touch!

We will miss you! I'm sure a green pasture calls and wish you all the best in your new venture. One good thing about the internet is that you can still be near through this board. Take care!

I bet some of those streams will be "grass and glass" heaven. Good luck and I hope everything goes better than you hoped for.

We've been fishing together a long time my friend. When I was young (er), hungry and enthusiastic, I was always in a rush to be the first on the water and power fish as fast as I could looking for the next big fish. While I have since caught my share of fish, Grant was the one who taught me to slow down and and really take it all in. Watching him really showed me that it's definitely not about how big, or how many fish you catch. It's about taking in your surroundings and just enjoying the fact that you're out there. Steam side fish stories during lunches in the parking lot while watching bald eagles over the treetops. The good stuff.
We had a good run and have walked countless miles on that river. Now looking forward to exploring new waters with you.

Thanks Grant for the advice and helping me with information about how to get started. Wish we had swung some flies together. Safe travels.

Fenwick, Just because your relocating doesn't mean that your not welcome on the LMFR. If you get tired of the great Va scenery your welcome to vacation back at Beavers Bend. Maybe a few of us from here will see your new adventures out east and take a drive to places you recommend. Till then, Safe travels and tight lines.
