How often does everyone on here do this? I'll be honest and say that I never have cleaned any of mine but I think I need to.

I have some of the Agent X line dressing that Rio makes. They also have instructions on how to clean your line and then apply the dressing...
That said, I do it probably once a year. But it really depends on how much you fish and how dirty your line gets. I think a good rule of thumb for a typical fly fisher might be to clean it before the season starts (if you have a "season" like I do out west here), use some of the Rio towelettes throughout the season when it needs it, then a post-season clean/dressing application for when your line is stored for some months...
Just my thoughts--some people recommend every 2-3 outings, but I think it really depends on HOW much line you have out and what kind of fishing you're doing and river conditions. Oklahoma junk water like I have at Medicine Park is a different ball game than a clean, clear river. If I am euro nymphing, my line won't even touch the water.

I watched those the other day. What got me thinking about it was when I was browsing "The Tactical Fly Fisher" and seen the Overtones Fly Line cleaner. I know I'm not like those guys but if he uses it then it must help. Frank, Evan, Peter, ect............... your feelings

Absolutely it helps. I think I'm an OK caster and I can tell the difference. I've been tight-lining most of the summer, but once trout season begins at Medicine Park, I'll be throwing some mean roll casts and long overhand casts with a small bobber and some nymphs...

I don't clean mine near enough. Once you clean and condition some old line, you would be surprised how much better it shoots through the guides. I try to clean and condition mine at least once a year. I do clean and condition my 7wt line that I use in ponds and lakes much more than I do the trout lines.

Definitely clean your lines. Ideally clean at some point after any period of use. Mine usually get cleaned about once every 2-3 months

I clean my line after each weekend of fishing. I just coil it out in a sink half-full of mild soapy water, let it soak for a few minutes, and then reel it back in through a dry dish towel.

1) I clean if line has been used in a pond or gunky water. 2) I clean trout lines before every big trip. 3) I clean any line/reel/rod that I borrow before I give it back. I use soap/water for pond scum and an Orvis product for periodic cleaning and greasing.

Depending on how much I fish (sadly not often these days), I usually clean a couple times a year. All rivers have gunk on the surface and buildup will happen.
