Does anyone use these? I tried the real long mono but hate the way it feels in my hand. Rio makes one, Cortland makes a couple and I know Airflo makes one. Right now I'm Euro leader poor. I have a 20'er, one of Rio's euro leader and I just bought 5 of the Umpqua Red Hot Powertaper leaders [all 5 shipped for $17]. I also have a spool of the Rio indicator tippit.

I have the trout legend stealth euro line and I really like it! Also you can just blood knot it to your leader and throw on some UV resin to make it easier to go through the guides

Turf,
Mono in the hand does kind of stink, but you get used to it. Unless I need to shoot a little line or bring in slack, I can usually just grip the mono with my index finger of my rod hand.
That being said, I don't own a Euro line either--probably won't get one unless I decide to get another reel minimum... or a Euro nymphing rod.
I've used one of the Red Hot Powertapers before...decent enough for a visual indicator without using a bobber. They can help track of a small dry fly if the water surface is smooth. I don't think it makes a good Euro style leader (as they claim) because 1) it's tapered 2) It's not nearly long enough and would require you to use the fly line out of the guides (which sags), which will pull your flies toward you and/or cause you to not have a tighter connection to your flies. Hence why the Tactical Fly Fisher guys produce such long mono leaders (which can be cut back to be made comp legal and if you're using a competition fly line).
Just my thoughts...

Looks like I am getting a Rio line. I'm trading a 6wt set up for a Greys 10' 2wt and a Rio Euro line.
I know Devin uses a long solid mono to the sighter leader but Lance uses a 15' leader that steps down like a tapered leader

I heard the Rio euro line was pretty prone to wearing out

We had some and it did wear out, coating wore off down to the braid core, but only after a year of hard fishing.

Well, got informed the guy can't find where he put the rod so I might not be trading after all.

As an owner of a 10’ 2wt I’m deeply saddened by that!

As an owner of a 10’ 2wt I’m deeply saddened by that! I have a Sage ESN 10' 4wt but was really looking forward to trying the 2wt. Maybe he will find it. Apparently he has misplaced it in a move

It’s a totally different game when you switch down from a 4wt to a 2wt! I loved my 4wt but it’s so nice having a 2wt as a euro rod and the 4wt as a indicator nymphing rod!

Is it a sensitivity thing? 4 wt to 2 wt? Maybe why I'm having such issues with trying the Euro nymphing with my 9' 5wt. Could be my technique too though I tried to make up and use an Egan type rig (all mono, no flyline in the guides). Wasn't working well for me but I was able to catch fish from the same waters using nymphs high sticking without indicators. Frustrating for sure but I want to learn to do it. Maybe on the winter trip. I'm hopeful.

Some of its sensitivity and some of it is the lightness of the rod
