These tiger trout were stocked in local ponds and have escaped or turned loose. I haven’t caught one in the Teton, but did catch one in LMF about three or four years ago on a WB at EH.

Utah has been successful in establishing Tigers in some drainages. They do love to eat little rainbows, but they also eat lots of chubs and suckers. I caught a few in Utah and one in a private WY golf course pond. Cool fish.
I wouldn't mind seeing a few in the LMF, but someone would string them up anyway.

Drove up to the Teton River yesterday hoping I could fish a little but way too much chunky ice flowing in the river. Going to try Warm River today, I believe its in better shape.

Hank, glad you asked because I’ve been here in WY/ID a week, about two weeks to go. I went to near Ashton, ID this morning and caught three rainbow and three very nice browns on olive Wooly Buggers, size 6. Since someone forgot to load the box that had leaders, tippits, reels, bear spray, wader belt, etc. all I could scrounge up was #5 and #2 tippits and a small selection of woolys. Anyway, caught this 18” brown, got him in, photos and released a happy fish. Air temp was 25F, water temp maybe 40F (guess) very cloudy and a perfect day. Bites were very soft, and this fish hit when the fly hit the water and jumped so never felt a strike. Saw one other guy fishing half a mile away, but a bald eagle was busy near me. PM me when you get serious about coming up here.

Thanks Hank. Hope you have many great trips in 2018.
OU/Georgia tomorrow at 3:00 PM Mountain Time and dark is at 4:45 and its 20 F in the morning at 10:00 AM. So probably hang around the cabin all day tomorrow and see how Tuesday looks. Supposed to be warmer.
What month you looking at Yellowstone ?

September, possibly August. Prefer September, chasing runners. Sounds like a good time up there!

The last few years water temps have been high causing sick fish two years ago. Everything depends on a deep mountain snow pack.
The park is open now and if you’ve never seen it in winter it’s worth going to see.
Up near where I’ve been fishing this trip is a place call Cave Falls on the Fall River and is just on the south border of the park. It’s really pretty and the fishing can be very good on nymphs.
Also nearby is Ford Ferry on Henrys Fork, but fishing can be tough there.
Coffee Pot Falls on the west side of the park is usually pretty good.
