Called and talked to Mr. Eddie at the fly shop and got a full day booked for Tuesday. I can’t wait to get up there. As it will be my first time on LMFR I thought it best to get a guide to learn my way around. Mr. Eddie said they had been catching quite a few fish so looking forward to the trip. I will post some pics in this thread when I get back.

It was quite a chilly morning this morning as the lowest temp I saw in my truck was 26F. I arrived at the fly shop a little after 7:00 A.M. and was introduced to my guide for the day Cody. We suited up shortly after and headed to Hickory Campground area. We were greeted by a flock of golden eye ducks that apparently wanted to fish along with us lol. Didn’t take long and we had a couple of fish there. We fished up to the bridge and on the way up picked up this big girl. It ends up being the biggest fish of the day we landed. We continued to fish our way up under the bridge and through the Evening hole picking up fish here and there. We caught this fish in the Evening Hole. We fished up around the bluffs and the cold hole. Got a shot of the bridge for those who want and updated pic. We fished our way back down to the bridge and took out for lunch. I must say the Mr. Eddie and Mrs. Roberta are very nice people. After lunch we headed up to the spillway where we did some pocket fishing. I was quite surprised at how slippery the rocks are in the spillway area. I had felt boots but I must say I was glad I brought my wading staff. We actually did quite well at the spillway working pockets here and there all the way up to the actual spillway itself. After climbing cardiac hill back to the truck we ended the day at the swim beach area. I want go into what flies we used or exact techniques as I think this would be a bit unfair to the fly shop and my guide Cody. I can tell you this, Cody was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. He took time to show me tips on casting and reading water throughout the whole day. Not to mention he put me on some fish. I believe the final hookup count was 24 but due to me being a total rookie at fly fishing out of those we netted 17. This was my 4th time fly fishing on a river and first time at LMFR. We had a solid day in my book and I look very much forward to fishing up at LMFR again.

Dude, some of us have fished there plenty and never caught a fish that big! Great day. Cody took me around on my first trip to LMFR, but he didn't teach me how to catch fish like that!! It was probably the fact he had a bad student. Seriously, Cody is an awesome guide.
Post up, hope to meet you on the water.

Sounds like a pretty awesome day to me. Really nice fish and kudos to your guide!
Is that a DD Ultralite reel I spot? And a Fishpond staff? I’ve been eyeballing staffs for a while but haven’t committed to getting one yet.

That is a Hardy reel and my pack and staff are Fish Pond. Judging by everyone’s comments I must have had an awesome day. It felt like a awesome day to me. I should be back up that way either the first week in March or the last week in March. This time I will be going by myself so looking to build on what I learned with Cody and what I have learned from what I have read here on the message board.

Yeah, man, you did good! The fish you caught were quite nice, but that wasn't the main thing. You are way up the learning curve from where you'd be otherwise, both fly-fishing-wise, but also the knowledge of how to fish the LMF.
